Why not wait the 18 months for the better, greatly improved one then?
Do you really really really need one now?
My guess is YES
You must not be a fan of The Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy. My last post was a quote from the book.

Just like the iPhone was for an extremely limited audience, right?
I tried out an Apple Watch. The market for watches just got completely redefined, just like phones did.
I used the Infinite Improbability Drive. ;)
Didn’t care for the goofy humor.
Er, 93 million miles...but what's five million miles between friends? :-)
Digital watches are so yesterday, but wearable computers are just coming into their own. Personally I'm more excited about augmented reality glasses like those from Magic Leap. That said, the Apple Watch has a lot of potential, particularly in the health/fitness area.
Actually, I rotate through my iOS devices and usually jump one or two models between devices (and computers). The Apple products do have a long life, so I can easily do that. And so ... I’ve already got plans for another device first before I go for the Apple Watch, to keep my planned rotation going ... :-) ...
So, no ... I’m not going to go crazy not having one immediately. With the iPhone, though, I could tell that was dynamite and I got one on “Day Three” of sales. The Tulsa Apple Store was brand new at that time and first opened at Woodland Hills Mall at the exact time that the new iPhone went on sale (late afternoon). I went there with the intention of getting one. The line was long and I didn’t want to wait. Instead, I drove down to Dallas and got one there on Day Three ... :-) ...
I was going there anyway, and there was no line to contend with. So, you see, I was able to wait THREE DAYS ... for the iPhone! ... LOL ...
With the Apple Watch, I’ll wait until version two, because of other Apple items I’m getting first.
Reminds me of Scientology...
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
I’m not a scientologist, but I’ve looked at it from the standpoint of my CULT GROUP studies, as compared to Christianity.
And I’ll assure you, my iPad bears no resemblance to Scientology, as far as its usefulness to me and all that I do with it. The same applies to my iPhone.
If Scientology was actually USEFUL in a real-world and practical sense, like the iPad and iPhone are, then you would see a lot more involvement, with the general public, in Scientology. It’s not, so there is no comparison with Apple products and what people are able to do, very productively, with Apple products!
There was a smartwatch market? Who knew?
Amazing, isn’t it! Apple sure knows how to take a nascent and faltering market that no one has paid any attention to ... and MAKE IT EXPLODE with sales ... :-) ...
You got that right. Look at the Rap Music industry, still booming, and creating billionaires. I’ve waited over 30 years for it to go away.

No , the market for watches is unchanged. The market for the functional equivalent of a bluetooth remote control for your iPhone has emerged... IT's NOT A WATCH AT ALL , IT's AN ACCESSORY FOR THE iPhone ... NOTHING MORE My prediction is that this non-watch will never perform it's stated function , being a watch , with any success... Face it ... My Seiko tells time perfectly and uses a single $0.99 battery every 5 years or so. The iWatch fails with a dead battery every stinking day. How is that an advancement? It's display is too small to make use of ANY application that you may be able to execute... unless you make the "watch" "phone" sized that will always be the case... This is a FAIL , Apple has jumped the shark with their foray into the jewelry business. I can get a Rolex priced gold band... Can I get it bedazzled? Will it ever be able to tell the time better and with less fuss than your typical $5 Chinese watch from Walmart?
And all the buyers voted for Bammy too. Oh yeah, they used their EBT cards to buy them.
The true believer Fanboies have been called into the fray.
LOL ... you haven’t looked at the demographics for the Apple consumer. The EBT people can only get the junk Samsung or other Android phones that they give away at these roadside tents that say “Free Phones”.
You see a lot of junk Samsung or Android phones there for those EBT people, but you NEVER see them giving ANYONE an iPhone!
Go out there and check it out yourself ... :-) ...
No, I have to disagree with your description of Apple's transaction methods. Apple will not charge anyone's cards until the purchase is shipped. They are a company that does think differently. They will not take your money until they are actually going to deliver the product.
Don’t forget the 700 other FReepers who are on the Apple ping list ... :-) ...
No, you cannot go swimming or take a bath wearing the Apple Watch, but you can wash your hands, and Apple Watch users, including Tim Cook, say they have taken showers with one on. It is water resistant to a certain degree but not for immersion. There is a data port underneath one side of the band slot that is not sealed.
