Yes and if you watch the video you’ll see that the perp was in line with all of those shots.
The car was a dangerous weapon in his hands.
Shouldn't police know there was a threat before killing someone?
They had less that a handful of seconds to make a decision and they made the proper one, INHO. These officers have families to go home to after their shift.
And the unarmed suspect's family?
According to a Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, the chase began about 10:40 a.m.
in the Crosstimbers area of US-59. Houston Police tried to pull over the driver of a blue
Chrysler 300 due to “suspicious activitiy,” including two unsafe lane changes. As they
approached the car, the driver fled.
A chase ensued through northeast Houston along Beltway 8 before the driver exited at
Wallisville Road and eventually ran through an intersection at Castlegory Road, striking
two vehicles.
The driver got out of the car and the officers told him to raise his hands, officials
said. He then appeared to reach back inside the vehicle, according to the Harris
County Sheriff’s Office. That’s when it appears, deputies said, that two police
officers opened fire on him, firing 10-12 rounds. The man died at the scene.
During the chase, the man called 911 dispatchers and told him that he had a child
in his car and would harm the child if police pursued him. No child was present in
the car, however. No weapon was found in the car.
“This was a very dangerous situation that the HPD had to deal with,” Dep.
Thomas Gilliland said.
The man was identified as Frank “Trey” Shephard, a 41-year-old barber and
father of three, his uncle said.

Agreed. Whoever was in that white hatchback can’t be feeling good after that. Who knows what the guy would have done next and he sure as hell was diving back into that vehicle for something.
he wasn’t putting ANY ONE’S life at risk when he was shot
Tell me the last time you heard of a White lives matter? When the cops shoot or beat White people to death the only thing that Black people do is applaud.
You don’t understand because the standards have changed. They used to be experiencing an actual threat. Now they are simply if an officer is afraid something dangerous might happen. Period. 007, license to kill. Those are the current police shoot to kill rules of engagement. And they are ten times looser than our combat troops have to obey. These are just facts.
Heh, if only our troops had the same ROE in Afghanistan as cops do here, we would have wiped out Al-Qaeda years ago.
I guess I'm just going to have to learn to live with your disapproval.
It's getting harder and harder to last as an unarmed motorist.
I saw a father, a mother and an uncle mentioned — but no wife.
You are absolutely correct! Vehicle accidents kill far more people!
“I know hundreds of retired cops in their 60s and 70s”
Became a peace Officer in the early 70’s and went reserve 5 1/2 years later and still carry my certification and carry a reserve badge with the SO. It’s been over 40 years and I’ve been through 4 Sheriff’s and I still don’t know hundreds of retired officers or deputies let alone have conversations with them.
The grouping in the front window is petty good. Not great, but pretty good under pressure.
another good shoot. I doubt he was paying child support.
Al Sharpton needs to get down there right away.
