An Australian mother claims she received an angry letter from a group of friends who apparently asked her to stop with the constant updates and “baby spamming” on social media about her 6-month-old baby.

Jade Ruthven sent the letter to Australian writer Em Rusciano, who shared it on Facebook on Tuesday.

We used to get together with a couple we knew until they had kids.

No matter where or when, the wife ONLY talked about the kids.

He was an intelligent guy an attorney, but the only conversation she had was about the kids.

No matter what you would try to steer the conversation to, she would revert to the kids.

We don’t see them anymore.

posting endless photos of their babies? That’s about 90% of mom’s on Facebook. Can’t believe this warranted a letter!

I am not on FB for the same reason. PRIVACY. I must have privacy! I talk about my self on FR but only about 3 people here actually know who I am.

MrD goes on FB and reads stuff about his obnoxious cousins.

Blocking is one’s friend.

My sister and brother in law go to the casino every weekend. Starting around 2:00 on Friday, they post everything they do. They get progressively more drunk and have less clothing on.

I just blocked em.

” But for these “friends” to say this? Bleep ‘em. Unfriend them socially and personally.”

One could “Harry Reid” them too!

I’m a nice guy, so I will let them pick the eye....

Yes my nieces post stuff all the time. Some I am interested in some not. We get the daily pics of the grandkids in France which we are fine with. We hardly ever see them in person. You take the good with the irritating. LOL!

Or maybe the new mommy has relatives who don’t live nearby and live seeing all the baby posts. I am so thankful my niece who lives in Alaska posts lots of pictures of her baby.

There is this neat little button that says "unfriend". You push it and presto, no more spam from that person.

People get upset over things when it is so easy to stop them.

Perhaps she should sign her "friends" up for a "how to use facebook" class?

Just stop “following” her or unfriend her on facebook (but not in real life. It’s that simple.

“I thought facebook was designed so people without lives could post something every few hours.”

Perhaps. But it’s also designed so that total losers can post about themselves every few minutes and designed for people with REAL lives who don’t post at all on facebook!

Facebook is a blight on humankind.

It's a great way for me to relate to my teenaged daughter, to interact with some of her GLFs (Grubby Little Friends), to see what she's into, what she finds funny and to share fun stuff (or political stuff). We do private chats together all the time.

I don't post anything on my own page, but I participate in her page all the time.

She and I are very close, although she doesn't live with me because her mom and I have been (amicably and cooeratively) separated for years. But I live close by, and see her often, drive her places, take her to dinner, help her with homework, giver her music lessons, etc.

But Facebook is a whole separate way to interact with her, and I'm glad it exists.

I kinda’ doubt that more than one person was involved in the writing of the letter. Sounds like one hell of a small, petty jackass.

Have some old school buddies that are like that now.

One is a huge hockey fan and announces his team's record, standings and scores all the freakin' time. He updates with the score each time his team scores right on through the playoffs and he whines incessantly when they are knocked out early and laments all summer long about how long it is until the season starts again. Dude, this is NC. Nobody else really cares. ESPECIALLY about a team other than the local Hurricanes and definitely never after the spring thaw.

Another married a gal whose daddy was loaded. I think they must feel like they are treating everybody to their wonderful tropical vacation photos. Constantly traveling and constantly posting pictures of beautiful tropical beaches with either their toes or umbrella drinks in the foreground.

A third buddy has his first grandkid. Cute little girl, under a year old... but jeeze-o'-flip. I wonder if the parents of the little rugrat ever get to see their own kid in person or just in FB pictures with her G-Diddy.

But, I found it easier to maintain them as old friends and just "unfollow" them. It's not like unfriending them. You're still "friends" it's just that you don't have to see any of their posts. More recently though, I have found it easiest to just not log in to FB.

Just scroll down. These girls should be used to scrolling down because FB fills your news feed with lots of junk. I’ve gotten pretty good at spotting stuff I’m not interested in an quickly scrolling past. It comes from years of ignoring ads in print media.

Maybe this mother is building a “permanent” record of the baby’s childhood with the best tool she has available. I might suggest she create a FB account for the baby & post there. Her “Friends” can Friend it or not.

But, your FB page is yours, not your “friends”. You are free to post what you wish within the FB restrictions, as it should be.

I happen to like the pics my nephew posts of his kids. Sometimes I dwell on them, sometimes not. It’s no great effort to pause or scroll on by. How many calories does it take to scroll by, how many synapses have to fire?

Once again, we have selfish individuals who want others to change their personal, harmless behavior to suit them. Whiny people who believe others should cater to them as if they are special.

“Live & let live”. Either scroll down, turn your head, exit an objectionable situation, or go to Hades.
