I got my Stainless Steel Apple Watch with black Sport Band at 5 minutes with an April 24-May 8 ship date. Used the Apple Store app on my iPhone. Web browsers weren’t an option until around 10 minute mark. I started checking other versions and these are the times I logged:

5 min: April 24-May 8
10 min: 4-6 weeks
15 min: June
20 min: July (white edition)
23 min: August (black edition)

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Computers/Internet
KEYWORDS: apple; applewatch
Delivery dates are slipping all the way into August as demand out strips availability. . . No word on the number of Apple Watches Apple planned to move on April 24th, the day of shipment and sales, but pre-orders are now sold out way beyond that date for delivery. Apple has already stated there will be no walk in sales of the Apple Watch. . . appointment only.

This one, I really don’t have a use for. I lusted after smart phones for YEARS before I got into a financial position where I felt I could afford/justify the expense. I got a iPhone 5s, and it’s brilliant, I love it, but I need more real estate, so this fall when the contract is up, I’m going bigger with the 6.

The watch, is WAY less real estate. One of my daily uses is watching the weather. I’m constantly zooming IN to see more detail, and a smaller screen becomes silly for this.

My fat fingers won’t get along on this item well, and I don’t need that instant access on my wrist. In fact, I don’t wear watches, and haven’t for decades.

BUT, this is just me. I’m weird enough to be out of the main stream on this item. Looks cool, but I don’t have a mission for it.

I wonder how many of the early buyers will flip them on eBay for a quick profit. That could explain the quick sell-out.

I’m holding out until the more expensive ones are released.

Buy five. One for each hand, one for each leg, and one for, well, you can probably guess...

Truly my brothers, we have become cyborgs. Hardware software and wetware all linked together. ‘All watched over by machines of loving grace’.

I saw those idiots all rushing into the apple joint. Every one of them looked like the occupy numb nuts, unwashed, long stringy hair, clothes a mess. And I wondered to self, I said self, how many of my tax dollars paid for a silly damn watch this morning?

It's not unusual at all. We've been more inclined to move away from tiny interfaces. Also, we just don't want to be field testers for a new product. I'd like to see how someone demonstrates the technology is useful in a way that makes my life more convenient. I just can't come up with any way that happens right now, and we've heard about the product for years.

I'm sure it's going to be very useful for some people though.

I had a 5 for years. When the 6+ came out I went and got it. Hated it. Its like a brick. So I took it back and got a 6. Personally I can’t tell much difference between the 5 and 6.

Well, that *could* support my idea that they’re going for a quick buck...for the next fix or something, from your description.

Seriously, though, it sounds like a pricey toy...not that there’s anything wrong with that, in principle. I have a bit of discretionary income that I spend on stuff others would shake their heads about. A $500 folding knife? Egads!

The knife me boy is a fine built tool, a tool that can be used daily and under almost any circumstances. It can save you life, save some one others life, cut kindling, shave your hairy face, trim a splint, and in a pinch, just whittle a stick.

See, that is how you do it. Now, you may need a backup.

Thanks, that what I do...of course, some people just don't appreciate quality. That's OK. Let them spend money on cheap stuff that fails/wears out again and again and again...

in the interest of disclosure, I use a 20 year old Mac every day, along with the stuff I *have* to use at work, but BTW, I have no interest in owning a so-called smart phone (possibly in the same way I used to have no interest in owning a cell phone), and the Apple Watch appears to me to be a solution in search of a problem, appealing to the Koolaid drinkers. The incoherent, inchoate animus directed to Apple -- allegedly for reasons that apply at least as strongly to all other brands -- remains both distasteful and a puzzle. big glass of reality: Samsung circling the drain: haters gonna hate: this was the most intriguing announcment in the recent big reveal from Apple (when I work, I work in health care): and here's some good news for all you LINOs (Libertarians in Name Only) out there: and bravo!
