US Fish and Wildlife Service approve Dallas [Safari] club's rhino import permit

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Thursday that it would allow a Texas man to import the trophy of an endangered black rhinoceros should he kill one on an African safari trip he won as part of a conservation fundraiser.

Good for him. The only genuine way to keep species like the black Rhino from extinction, poachers for the horn mostly, which eventually ends up in the Chinese market as alleged aphrodisiac. It to place an economic value on its survival. if Sportsman’s fees to an African country for hunting permits and trophy fees become a economic value, the African nation will go to effort to protect the proliferation and management of the species. Same is said for big game in America, such as the several wild species of Sheep.

I’d like to think that is the case.....but with all the corruption in many African states....I sincerely , have my doubts.

Namibia has done a good job at conservation and as well the hunting. I would guess they bring in close to 50 mil US a year through trophy hunting. Namibia has as well many very large game ranches for hunters. (Ranches in the 10s of thousands of acres.)I agree with your point on corruption throughout Africa, which varies by country. Things as well happen slowly in Africa. TIA= This is Africa
