I'm confused about this Cruz Citizenship thing

So I saw several years of complaints that Obama was born in Kenya. Lets assume he was. His mother is an American citizen; there isn't any dispute there. And, in the minds of those who believe he was born in Kenya, that means he's not eligible to be President.

Lets move to Ted Cruz. He was born in Canada. His father wasn't a US Citizen at the time of his birth. His mother was. So if Obama being born in Kenya supposedly matters, why does Cruz being born in Canada NOT matter?

How have I bashed Sen. Cruz? I think he’s brilliant, and the best conservative candidate by far. I think he’d run rings around Hillary in any debate. Especially after navigating the Republican primary, where she would face token opposition at best on the Democrat side.

This post is about hypocrisy, and holding ourselves to a higher standard. The birther issue was a waste of time and a distraction. Especially now that the Republicans are ready to field a nominee with basically the same birth scenario as Obama. Watching some trying to twist themselves in knots trying to explain the difference is quite humorous.

As one of the local elites, Obama Sr would have been living in a lavish urban gated compound of colonial provenance rather than a mud hut in the middle of nowhere, exposed to lion and hippo attacks. Apart from that, agreed.

Not quite. Cruz is a NBC because his mother conferred citizenship at his birth by meeting the US residency requirements (detailed in other posts).

What is her birthday?
How long was she in Canada for, prior to Cruz's birth?
Was she continuously resident in the USA for more than five years after the age of 14?

Also, if she provides that she still has to show that she passes the residency tests that Obama's mother failed. 10 years continous residency in the USA, 5 after the age of 14.

This requires knowing her biography, just like we know (at least a claimed) biography for Stanley Anne.

Another concern troll started in as you have and was warned. Skeeter and I aren’t going anywhere. And hopefully - we are wrong about you. Hopefully you are just ignorant and are not using this thread to draw direct comparisons to Obama and Cruz as you “question” the legalities.
