College player dismissed from team following offensive Mo'ne Davis tweet

A Bloomsburg (Pa.) University baseball player was dismissed from the team on Saturday after posting an offensive tweet about Little League World Series star Mo'ne Davis.

The tweet was authored by Joey Casselberry, a junior first baseman who was the team's second-leading hitter at the time of his dismissal. It was in reference to Disney Channel's recent announcement of a movie based on Mo'ne Davis' remarkable story. And it was unquestionably offensive, to the point where Bloomsburg's athletic department had no choice but to act as it did.

Some, and yes (along with the gutless commanders that allowed/encouraged such nonsense).

You are part of a team. You do your job, well. Everything else is irrelevant.

What I find disappointing is the spirit of envy that views positive attention to someone else - for whatever reason - as a cause of grievance and an occasion for intimate personal hostility.

Novelties get attention, whether it’s a girl, a handicapped person, someone unusually young or old for (activity X), whatever. Mature people, of either sex, shrug, rather than having tiny tantrums.

Sounds pretty offensive to me but then so does the N-Word.

And again, it's Whitey that's in trouble.

(Seriously, the guy's an idiot, on the web thing forever.)

All aircrew getting called into the base theater, being TOLD (ordered) that the “first” female that flew fighters was coming to our base, that she was going to be checked-out to mission-ready status on-time, that she would become a two-ship and four-ship flight lead on-time, and upgrade to instructor pilot. . .on-time. Nothing about her skills and abilities. . .it was going to happen. On-time. Period.

Oh, and we need three aircrew in an hour to speak to the media supporting her arrival.

And the case of Hultgreen of the US Navy (crashing the F-14 and killing herself). Turns out she was also one of those PC darlings that wasn't allowed to fail. She was a media ‘female first’ that wasn't allowed to fail as that wouldn't advance the narrative.

McSalley flew A-10’s in Kuwait. No status of forces agreement, meaning we have to abide by local laws—no special waivers or protections. She objected to wearing clothes that covered the body, not a burka, but clothes that were modest. Instead of going up the chain, appealing to her commander, his boss and his boss, and eventually the IG. . .but no, she went straight to filing a congressional and causing a stir by jumping the chain of command and IG. All because of what SHE wanted. . .and she got away with it, even being promoted to colonel (Lord help the Air Force if she was passed over).

There are many more instances of such nonsense. I am tired of such double-standards.

I could care less about this particular story, but to say it is only novelties for their own sake that receive attention isn't correct.

There is always a political agenda behind these stories - we know this because every one of these 'novelties' share the same basic characteristics and always feed into the same narrative.

“What I find disappointing is the spirit of envy that views positive attention to someone else”

We agree.

“for whatever reason -”

Of that, we certainly disagree. Mediocrity should not be celebrated. Too much emphasis on feel-good “self-esteem,” not enough earned self-respect

The threshold for “racism” is getting lower and lower. For Whitey. Dismissed for words.
Would they dismiss a non-whitey for physically attacking a Whitey?

Yes, we do disagree. I don’t think it hurts me in the slightest if someone else is celebrated, whether or not I think he or she is outstanding. Good character is more important than just about any “notable accomplishment,” and finding it in sports at any level seems to be the exception.

A racist is someone who is winning an argument with a liberal.

why would he refer to this young girl as a slut?

Because it is just an expression. I hear women jokingly call each other that all the time.

he’s upset that she is admired by others ...

She is ridiculously overhyped and it's tedious.

So what? I think sports is ridiculously overhyped, and it’s tedious, but I don’t have to insult anyone over it.

You will get no argument from me about sports, but this girl has been hand picked by the media for veneration. As for the insult part, as a college student, I can guarantee you that he hears girls his own age, jokingly calling each other "slut" all the time. It is standard slang now, the same way the "n" word is among a lot of blacks. He probably didn't see it as an insult. If the girl in question weren't just a kid, the comment would be defensible, IMO.

I'm willing to accept that this is possible. I don't spend any time with college students in the wild, so I can't claim to know how they address one another.

“There are many more instances of such nonsense. I am tired of such double-standards.”

LOL!

Having worked directly with operational aircrew members and ground support,I can understand why a specific base may have needed to be reminded formally that on-time and professional work was going to be critical, it was going to be watched under a microscope, and no petty sabotage bs attempts/games were going to be tolerated!

Few men ever made the final cut.
Exponentially even fewer women will, given the physical skills and strength requirements, not to mention the professional desire to compete for the position.

What ever happened to educating young minds in college? If the powers that be think he did something wrong, then sit him down and train him, leave him out of a few games. This does not rise to the level of being kicked off the team. My guess is the guys in the locker room talk like this all the time. (Not that it is ok) Also, my guess is the coach has said worse on a regular basis.
