Reuters) - Starbucks Corp Chief Executive Howard Schultz has deftly navigated thorny issues such as gay marriage, gun control and Congressional gridlock, but his move to weigh in on U.S. race relations has brewed up a social media backlash.

The world's biggest coffee chain kicked off the discussion when it published full-page ads in major U.S. newspapers earlier this week with the words "Shall We Overcome?" at center page and "RaceTogether" and the Starbucks logo near the bottom.

Wonder how many black people or Latinos live in Howard Schultz’s neighborhood?
His 'hood is probably just as diverse as the town of Torch Lake, MI where Michael Moore's "main crib" is located, one of the most valuable pieces of real estate along the entire Great Lakes, BTW. According to the latest census the town is 96%+ WHITE. Who's kidding who?

Well I live in a white country club neighborhood......right across the Main Street of it is a black neighborhood. We are separated by a 6 lane highway. On their side of the street at the very edge of the neighborhood is a small shopping center. It has an Orchard Supply and Hardware, a Grocery Outlet, some smaller shops and a bank. It also has a Starbucks.
I can go into the grocery store and its full of blacks and whites. I’ve never seen a black at Starbucks and I drive right by it every time I go to the grocery store.

Right you can “discuss” race with them so long as it’s all about whites being dicks and the problems of blacks.

I’m sure they want to discuss the black crime rate, welfare, unwed moms with multiple dads. I’m sure they want to have an open two sided conversation based on reality - not.

Nothing like an underemployed liberal arts barista lecturing you about race relations while pouring you your overpriced cup of burned s***.

Dana Loesch (from Glen Beck show) has a good parody of this:

“His home is on page 21 in LW 130 Homes. It is in Madison Park...”

Where he tried to steal an adjacent piece of public park property for his own personal driveway about 20 years ago.

Is Starbucks racist?

“....there are no Starbucks Coffee Houses {in}

Places like Highland Park, Michigan, which is at the center of Detroit, is inhabited by a population that is 94 percent African-American. Or in Benton Harbor, Michigan, which is almost 90 percent African-American. There is not a Starbucks in either town.

There is not a Starbucks in East St. Louis, Illinois, in which 98 percent of the population is African-American. Nor is there one in Gary, Indiana, whose population is 85 percent African-American.

The recent remembrance of the march on Selma, Alabama had the president walking down the street with many people who fought for civil rights, but once again, Selma doesn’t have a Starbucks. Neither does Ferguson, Missouri.”

Nothing to do with racism.

It’s a business decision. Starbucks locates were they will make money.

And what’s interesting is, according to Google Maps there’s a Starbucks in Monroe, LA that’s just about within walking distance of the Robertson’s Duck Commander warehouse (Phil, Uncle Si, Miss Kay, etc) Isn’t that special?

I never liked Starbucks coffee, it doesn’t even taste good.
I always steer to McDonald’s if I need some coffee on the road,

Actually, I kinda tempted to walk into a Starschmucks to see if I would provoked into engaging in a “dialogue about race”. I would casually tell them, You know, I’ve been rethinking the whole abortion thing and I’ve concluded that Margaret Sanger was right all along. What we need is abortion and sterilization clinics lining every single MLK Blvd, and also along the Mexican border and in the basement of every mosque while we’re at it. The reactions would be priceless!
