Apple tells us that its launching a new global advertising campaign called Shot on iPhone 6. Starting this week, billboards in 70 cities in 24 countries around the world will feature photos captured by iPhone 6 owners. 77 iPhone photographers will be featured in the campaign after Apple selected their images as its favorites.
The worldwide nature of this effort makes this possibly the largest mobile photo gallery ever put together, featuring the work of a group that spans a wide range of backgrounds, nationalities, ages, professions, cultures and photography experience.
The photographs in the campaign were not commissioned by Apple and captured by hired photographers. Instead, the company reviewed tens of thousands of photos published on the Web by iPhone 6 owners, eventually selecting a small set of them to feature worldwide.
The image above was shot by Renee M. in Union City, California. Apple was intrigued by the balance between shadows and light, which helps highlight subtle details such as the repeating footprints in the dirt.
Here are 20 of Apples favorite iPhone 6 photos, along with Apples rationale for selecting them:

Some truly excellent photographs there wow!
Beautiful! The rich red color, the smooth arc of the bite, the darker shades at the bottom!
I wonder how many of Apple’s favorite photos will be from a Samsung Galaxy S6?
There's a bunch more on Apple's World Gallery page.
Missing the concept, are we?
It's not nice to tweak the noses of fanboys
By the way, the actual answer, for ANYONE'S list of favorite photos, is ZERO. the Samsung Galaxy S6 is not even on the market yet. You just love to make negative comments on Apple threads, no matter how absurd they may be.
That said, those are some stunning shots from a glorified cellular phone. Of course, no iProcuct user actually makes phone calls, do they?
Not really. Inless you are conceding the iPhone has an inferior camera which it does.
A friend of mine used to take video of his snowmobile adventures with his I-Phone 4. Then he switched to a go-pro and I thought his videos were not nearly as good.
Lighting, composition and the skill of the photographer is basically always more important than the type of camera and lens being used. That said, the sensor and lens in an iPhone 6 while obviously darned good for a phone can’t actually compare with the sensors and lenses used in DSLR type cameras. If the goal of this campaign is to convince people that an iPhone’s 8MP 1/3” sensor and tiny lens is comparable to that of a DSLR... I think that would be disingenuous.
They say there are no such things as "stupid questions," Mastador1, but I would say, that given the very explicit title of this thread, Blue Highway just asked one.
I'm sure there's something a Freudian could say about that.
Tidbit on “Apple”: Turing, who cracked the Enigma code, allegedly is the father of computers. It so happen that he divorced and then had a gay partner. This partner robbed his house, and when he complained to the cops, they jailed him for being gay - illegal then in England. He was faced with two choices, either go to prison or undergo chemical castration. He chose chemical castration which meant taking estrogen. This caused him to lose his energetic athletic abilities and lead to depression.
He then reenacted Snow White and bit an Apple poisoned by cyanide.
Allegedly steve Jobs wished his logo had been created in remembrance of Turing.
What gets me in this story is that transgenders take estrogen which must castrate and depress them. So why what is considered cruel to Turing is now spun into something to encourage people to take? Also Turing got robbed/raped by another gay man in this, why is this ignored?
I think he was doing just what I implied, I have no horse in the race since I stick to a dumb phone. Though I do apologize for throwing some gas on the fire, my only excuse is I’m a little bored tonight.
Only approximately 700 Million or so, at last estimate, make phone calls.
i know he was doing what you implied. It is one of his little hobbies. He is an anti-Apple Troll.
You do not know that many actually make phone calls. From what I see of smartphone users, the primary usage seems to be texting, emailing, twitting, etc.
Cannot recall the last time I saw one with it up to an ear talking or dialing a number. Just a lot of staring at the screen.
Whatever. Still a glorified and hideously expensive cell phone for the "must stay connected 24/7" generation.
