Extreme Long Range Pellet Rifle
Western Shooting Journal ^ | 2/24/2015 | Eric Nestor

Posted on 02/24/2015 8:32:17 AM PST by w1n1

For many of us, our first experiences with shooting included BB guns and pellet guns. These air pellet rifles are like nothing we’ve used before!

Check out the video on this pellet rifle hitting its target from 90 plus yards. Spoiler if you're a "Birdman" fan you may not like this. :)

The very short article notes the video shows “invasive species, including pigeons, English sparrows, and European starlings.” Basically flying rats.

They look like a couple of Robins...

Not Robins. They're European/English sparrows.

Definitely not a robin.

Article said invasive species.

There are places where pests need to be controlled, flying or otherwise.

My concern was shot was taken at a wire.

It just didn’t look like some kind of invasive species to me. Had a Robin’s head looked like to me - definitely not a pigeon, nor Starling I could fathom out. Also looked red (but that could just be my eyes and the monitor).

In my neck of the woods it’s illegal to shoot any living creature off of a power line. Point being, “don’t do this at home.”

It was intruding on his personal space and homefront (90 yards away).

couple of robins

Article says they are starlings.

Non-native, noisy, messy pests.

Sounds like you wouldn't shoot them, and maybe I wouldn't either, unless they were driving songbirds from my feeders.

But if a guy is going to shoot a bird that would be a likely one.

According to the video, he’s shooting starlings and english sparrows.

They’re invasive pests.

He’s engaged in pest control, and having fun doing it.

Good for him.

Okay. I’ll relent...probably a pest, but I wouldn’t shoot it unless it was doing as you say. 90 yards away (at 20X power) doesn’t seem like and nearby threat. But I’m probably wrong - usually am.

There's a cottage pest control industry out there using pellet rifles to protect crop damage.

Yep, sparrows are mice with wings.
Pigeons - rats with wings.

Deer... Giant rats.
