Octopi are one of my favorite ocean animals.
They are friendly to divers if you are kind to them.
Highly intelligent and fun to watch.

If octopus’ lived longer than 2 years they’d be running this planet.

They're dangerous enough already, and now we have scientists genetically manipulating them to produce stuff like this:

Happened to tune through one of the TV channels this morning that had a kids’ show going about a visit to an aquarium - attendant was talking about their octopus and how she had to try to keep it entertained to keep it from getting out of its tank - she introduced all sorts of puzzles to it, including on camera a twist top jar within a twist top jar with food inside the last jar - as soon as she put it into the tank the octopus jumped at it and grabbed it, and within a matter of a minute or two had undone both jars and was enjoying a snack - pretty remarkable - they’re shrewd characters.....

#46 Thousands of humboldt squid come up from the depths at night. You do not want to go swimming in the ocean with them.

"The octopus eats the crab, underneath that mantle is a sharp beak. Around an octopus’ den in the reef are scattered the shells of many crabs. “Sushi love crabmeat!”

And here I thought Sharknado was gonna be the end of it! Oh yeah, that’s a cross between a tornader and a shark...not some genetic nightmare launching itself out of a local lake to put the munch on some hapless pipples!
Just thought I’d have some fun, it’s been a loooonggg day for me.
:-)

Twenty-some years ago, when I was in the Australian lobster biz, wifey and I traveled to West Australia, and took a daytrip on a lobster boat..........when the pots came up, there was a small octopus in one of the traps, and she 'allowed' it to work it's way around her hand and wrist.

Whenever we now reminisce about our trip to Oz, that's the first thing she always brings up.

(Our memories stay a little refreshed, because I had the Camcorder along and recorded her "Eeeeeek"....)

It’s always the odd small things like that on a trip that you remember, isn’t it? Sounds like a neat experience.

A few years ago, I flew to Utrecht, Netherlands to pick my daughter up after she completed her studies. We toured Spain and Portugal and stopped at Gibraltar on a whim. Our tour guide got one of the monkeys up by the caves to sit on her shoulders — and then he peed all down her back. She’s good natured and we got a big laugh out of it ( and still do).

Actually, Sharktopus came first. Sharktopus predates the first Sharknado film by three years.

The next installment of Sharknado has just started filming: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv/tv-guy/os-sharknado-3-hits-orlando-20150219-post.html
