WEEKLY GARDEN THREAD, VOLUME 8 FEBRUARY 20, 2015
freerepublic | 2/20/2015 | greeneyes

Posted on 02/20/2015 12:51:08 PM PST by greeneyes

The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.

No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

greeneyes, Johnny and I are going to be frozen in with sleet and ice by Monday morning with temps in the 20s to 30.

Johnny, I think you will be warm as long as you don’t venture outside. With ice, we won’t be outside on Monday. There are going to be car wrecks since people here can’t deal with ice. I wonder if any of the towns around here have even one piece of machinery that could spread salt or whatever they use these days to melt ice off roads and bridges?

Johnny, you have many, many friends on FR. They love you - why, I don’t know. ;o)

Johnny: please, please humor me and search Jeff Rense for alkalyning and acidifying foods. It’s just charts of foods to eat to restore your PH balance to neutral, like fish tanks or swimming pools. Cancer can only live in acidic environments.

Please, please, Sir, it’s only a few pages.

Bless you JRF. May The Lord heal you! From the look of this thread, and the one running from Windy, the people here on FR have your back! There is unfathomable strength coming from the thoughts and prayers of your friends here.

Hello JR...

Well I must say your posts really grabbed my heart and mind...and memory of standing by for another great man who faced the same. He too was given a poor prognosis but many times perked back up for the long haul to the astonishment and surprise of his physicians.

You can't go until it's in God's time frame...so who really knows how many more weeks, months etc. you still have except Him...and even it seems like shorter than hoped for HE has a way of filling time and stretching it to accommodate more precious moments than many have in a lifetime....so watch for them.

Until then...let's pray together,

Lord Jesus....well here we are with JR in this place of uncertainty, where time will come and go as you have designed and will determine. Though it really is that for us all, it's just in this situation there's discomfort of the body so you know exactly what needs to be done for comfort and relief so we'll just trust you will provide this.

Lord, how would you have us to pray for JR....we cannot see him...nor touch him with embraces of friendship and love...we cannot look into the eyes of the one we so enjoy here with us? ...and yet we can touch Him by your very Spirit you've given us, that he would know and sense that it is we through you. ....and will trust you for this as well....so that JR will know he is loved and cared for deeply.

We thank you Jesus that you are not limited by time nor space and can reach across these to JR as we have asked....and may you circle Him with his friends and family members, and good physicians who will tend to his needs as you would have each do in and through you Lord.

And may your name be Glorified in all of this happening,
In you Wonderful and Mighty Name..Jesus...Amen.

Consider this my opus. It's as close as I'm going to get to giving one.

Opus rejected with extreme prejudice!

Eagles Up!

Sad news to start the day with, JRandom. Holding out for a miracle! If you’re not the most original person here, it’s darn close!

Oh, gee whiz, Johnny!

As a fellow cancer patient, you have my deepest sympathy. I
hope that you follow all instructions and that you are able to
eliminate the cancer and make a full recovery.

May God Bless and keep you, and my prayers are humbly
offered in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.

It was a toasty minus 15 degrees here in southern New Hampshire, this morning! Barb has one of those mini-green houses set up in the living room and tomato and herb seeds planted. The basil is up, already. we are making plans for our garden this year.

Less than a month to spring and another couple of snow storms inbound. I have to deal with snow on the roof and ice dams today.

/johnny, I a so sorry to hear the news. I have enjoyed your posts all these years. I will offer my prayers on your behalf.

As we used to say in my old artillery battalion, "They can kill us, and they can eat us, but it doesn't mean we have to taste good!"

I know that you will give it one hell of a fight!
