Apple fires anti-gay lobbyist

Under openly gay CEO Tim Cook, Apple has done a lot to forward gay rights. A year ago, the company stood up against homophobic legislation going through Arizona and organized a company-wide march in San Francisco’s annual gay pride parade.

All in all, Apple’s one of the most gay-friendly companies you can work for. So here’s a shocker for you: When Apple figured out it had accidentally hired someone with a history of anti-gay activities, it quickly severed contact.

The hire in question was Jay Love, a former politician Apple hired to lobby on its behalf to the Alabama state legislature. The only issue? Love had a history of lobbying for anti-gay laws.

Buzzfeed, citing records from the Alabama Ethics Commission, says Apple recruited, then fired, conservative lobbyist Love after the company discovered the former state house speaker once sponsored legislation praising a beauty pageant contestant for opposing same-sex marriage.

As House speaker in the Alabama legislature in 2009, Love sponsored a resolution to give the state’s “highest commendations” to Carrie Prejean for publicly declaring her opposition to same-sex marriage during the Miss USA pageant. The legislation said the Southern state was honoring Prejean, who represented California, “for affirming her faith and standing true to her beliefs … and this resolution is offered to her in tribute and with admiration.”

I know Jay Love. He ran for my district's (AL-2) seat in Congress. I keep up and am well known in the district. Bobby Bright, so-called blue dog democrat beat him in 2008, and then proceeded to elect Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. He said later he regretted that. I encouraged him to switch parties, because all of his positions were conservative. He would not. Two years later, Bright was swept out of office by TEA party darling Martha Roby, who now is a RINO supporting Boehner and all his bills.

In retrospect, Jay would have been the better representative for us.

Apple might as well never hire any Republican from the South, because Jay's position on Prejean was no different than any other.

They've written us ALL off. We are persona-non-grata. I'm boycotting their crap.

Microsoft makes very little off of the pre-installed OEM OS. You a least get to choose the hardware manufacturer you want to support...

Good points. thanks.

Buy nearly anything and support homos.

I wouldn’t go hungry without them. But I may well starve without companies that “support” them.

I will occasionally measure, yes. But I really can’t be as “anal” as they and their antagonists would have me be.

Yup, not only are you forced to celebrate homo marriage, you cannot celebrate traditional marriage, or there will be wrath.

I dont know any company known for firing gays. the only times i have seen that is for catholic schools, um yeah probably shouldnt be openly gay and working for a religious organization. Some citys in my state have decided to make laws where gays cannot be fired, so the state legislature took it up passed a bill to not create a gay protected class. And as I called it our big gov neo con republican wouldnt veto or sign it , becoming law. why do repugnicans always try to alienate their base? the libs even said they would have preferred a veto, but they expected him to sign it for him to do nothing is spineless

Buy nearly anything and support homos.

So that's the excuse for supporting a gay corporation?

No.

I should’ve said, ‘One cannot buy almost anything without a tacit endorsement of some element of the homosexual community or agenda.’

I think I made it a bit clearer as I went on. But I do appreciate you pointing it out.

Thanks and FReegards.

The tech savvy can do Linux on AMD. Those less tech savvy can get Windows on an AMD, and as little MS software as possible.

I deplore this anti-gay BS!!!! Shame on Cook the crook and his gay apple stooges. If I still owned my iPad I would STOMP IT TO BITS!!

But I traded it w a silly ninny for a V3 Surface Pro that I like much better w its CPU power for adults. So now i am cruising while he is OUT THERE LOSING!!

I learned my lessons and now its Sammy/Intel/MS all the way for me baby!!!!

Why not Intel? I am curious. I used to just build w AMD but my last two have been Intel. My last AMD builds were 3 years ago and had too much over heat problems in the summer when using the comp in a non- air conditioned room.

My guess is AMD is better now...but...960T overheated at 95 watts consumption. Winter it was OK but summer....fuggedaboutit!

Intel joined in trying to force the Boy Scouts to hire homosexuals.

My computers are AMD and run fine in summer, but I agree they are more likely to overheat and require more cooling.

The same BS that Apple just pulled is standard operating procedure at places such as, Google, Amazon, Microsoft or any other Silicon Valley company. Unfortunately, it is quickly becoming commonplace in corporate America that if you openly oppose the homo agenda that you will lose your job.
