LONDON - (AP) -- A new study says the Muslim population of England and Wales almost doubled over a 10-year period.
The analysis of 2011 census data indicates the number of people identifying themselves as Muslim grew from 1.5 million in 2001 to 2.7 million by 2011.
The study based on official data was prepared for the Muslim Council of Britain by a team led by Sundas Ali of the University of Oxford.
The "British Muslims in Numbers" report indicates that more than half were born outside Britain but 73 percent regard themselves as British.

Bet the percentage of these invaders wanting to impose shariah upon the non-muslim British is about that high as well.
In 1961, the Muslim population there was about 50,000 (I looked at their census data a few weeks ago for another thread) It doubled nearly every 10 years and has started increasing even more rapidly. Gonna be a really big problem.
Police are investigating an attack on a kosher restaurant in Edgware, northwest of London on Wednesday in which the front window of Orli Caffe was smashed while diners were eating. Aside from the damage caused by the smashed window, no injuries were reported.
According to a report by The Jewish Chronicle, eyewitnesses originally thought that shots were fired, though a spokeswoman for London's Metropolitan Police said they do not believe there was gunfire.
Barnet police said there have been four recent incidents of "windows being randomly shattered, possibly by marbles."
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Windows were smashed at a kosher restaurant in a series of apparently "random"attacks in Edgware.
Orli, in Hale Lane, had objects - believed to be marbles - thrown at it around 5pm today, along with another building and two vehicles which were also damaged.
Initial reports on social media suggested shots had been fired, but the Metropolitan Police and the Community Security Trust (CST) have confirmed no firearm was used.
A police spokesman said the incidents appeared to be “completely random” and that there was no obvious motive.
The CST, a Jewish security charity, also tweeted that the incident may be linked to non anti-Semitic incidents in the area.
Further investigations are underway.
Same thing is happening here in the US; many practice de facto polygamy, and the birthrate is high.
A few years back (I believe in the Bronx) there was a fire in a three-family house; a number of children and a couple of women died, IIRC. Word was that they were the families of one African Muslim guy who was out working when the fire occurred; he basically had the whole extended family in the one building.
Yeah, it is. Doesn’t help when our Muslim President insists Islamic Terrorism is just ‘random violence’ and that Muslims are all peaceful.
They’ve immigrated to the western world for the purpose of eventual takeover.
There are TONS of them in the cities of Canada. When my daughter was in the hospital with my first grandchild, it was very crowded. She was in a large room divided by curtains (thank you, socialized medicine) and she was the only white person. Surrounded by middle easterners and a few asians. This was in Ontario about an hour from Toronto.
And they have been saying recently “its leveling off!” “they aren’t having more babies!” what a joke
Is that level of Islam considered Stage 1 or Stage 2 cancer?
