My Macbook Pro is now my main work computer; it is faster and easier to work than my dual monitor Windows 7, 16Gig RAM I5 processed desktop, with a trackball. I have the Adobe CC Suite and use InDesign, Illustrator and MS Word a lot. Just getting familiar with Dreamweaver for my website.

Other than one hardware failure, this machine has been near-perfect. It is quicker to work than a PC.

I’m 65 years old.

All the people who criticize the “MacCult” are amusing. If you only knew what I know...

When I started using Apple the ‘cool kid’ brand was Commodore. So no, it is not about the hype. My ipad does things an android doesn’t. Just because those things are not on the spec sheet does not mean they are not make/break for me.

“It works. So it’s cool.”

Bingo. Poor quality does not sell. People try to point to one line on a spec sheet and tell me that feature makes the other product better... but they don’t use their device for half the stuff I do. I had this co-worker that tried to convince me that since there was no file system the ipad was inferior. He was utterly clueless when I showed him how everyone of my devices has the same files on it AUTOMATICALLY. He was baffled when I said I don’t WANT to know where the files is, I want it to be were I want it when I want it. Instantly. With no effort. If I have to go looking for a specific version of a file from the 4 places I have it backed up to... well lets just say file storage starts looking pretty darn useless compared to how icloud works.

Fair disclosure: I write iOS software. Being on top of the latest is part of my job. Given _which_ platform I’d rather be on, I’m sticking to iOS.

One of my financial rules-of-thumb is “a dollar a day”: if I can get the cost down to that, it’s a no-brainer easy buy, I’ll get my money’s worth out of it (be it business or pleasure).
Apple devices, given their practical longevity, work out to a dollar a day for something I use every day, aggregate of hours per day.
If it costs a dollar a day, it’s not overpriced.

Knowing thine enemy is one thing, and useful.
Wallowing in your hatred thereof is another, and pathetic.

“Feelings of inferiority”? What’s inferior? More like reveling in superiority. Apple ain’t perfect, but everything else I’ve tried sucks in comparison - and I’ve been doing digital technology for a loooong time.

People who are truly superior don’t find the need to brag, especially about accomplishments of others that at BEST provide a slight corona effect.

I don’t post about my 401(k) provider when it goes up a tick or 2 or 10 since I am satisfied with my ability to invest and don’t feel the need to prove myself.

You fanboys are something special...

So why are YOU here? At least I’m rambling about something positive. You’re just trying to pee on someone’s party.

I dont use pads
My kids do

I am on a 6 plus typing now

I don’t find it so wonderful compared to a nice droid

It’s not like pickup diesels where a Cummins is so much better

And I’m sorry there is for sure a status cred amongst hipsters for the Apple

I was having pancakes at Cracker Barrel whilst looking at yet another Apple Love thread

As I was leaving I saw one of the big tables full of hipsters all playing with their phones

8 under 30 folks

Tattoos

Wrist beads

Chuck Taylor’s

Groucho Marx glasses

Plaid

Skinny jeans

You know the drill

All had Apple Products

I like not love their phones

I dont like the cult or the company attitudes nor most of the users I see

It’s like Subaru but worse

Pure amusement — and maybe we won’t see these silly kneepad threads which would be a definite positive.

I will leave you to your strutting.

Yeah, ok. I really wish you guys would stop parroting the way leftists talk. It really is embarrassing to see it being done on a conservative website. I can see a day when the term “Applephobe” starts being used by you guys.

In economic speak, they have a term called "utility" that applies here.

For example, you need a couch for your living room and you have a choice between top-of-the-line, high-quality leather couch that retails for $4,200 vs. a similar-looking discount furniture store brand that sells for $800.

Most people would immediately go for the lower priced couch, even knowing that the manufacturer might have taken a lot of shortcuts and used cheaper materials.

However, that $4,200 couch lasts for 30 years and that $800 couch starts getting frayed and tattered after five years and you have to replace it again.

Cost of the $4,2000 couch = .46 cents a day
Cost of the $800 couch = .38 cents a day

Many people don't think that way but I bought into it at an early age. I've been married 28 years and moved three times and my wife and I still have much of our original furniture that we bought when we got married (all solid teakwood bedroom set for example).

Another example of "utility" goes like this. You buy a cheap coffeemaker from Wal-Mart, use it for a few weeks and then stick it in a closet, destined for a later yard sale, because it makes lousy coffee. Or you buy a top-of-the-line Bunn coffee maker and end up using it everyday for 10 years.

Actually I had it flip-flopped. 38 cents a day for the more expensive couch! 46 cents a day for the less expensive one.

Kind of like your disgust for Apple. Same tune, different words.

Disgust?

I have bought around 20k in Apple products in my life since 86/87

And currently have I think:

iPhones

2/4s

2/5

1/6

2/6+

3/pads

1/mini given to me for Christmas by Verizon

On my verizon accounts

If that is disgust for Apple by your measure then pardon me

Problem is Appleheads here brook no dissent which I find odd as hell

It’s a phone made by a very politically liberal driven company run by a very liberal homosexual yet on a conservative website there is a group of Apple lovers that basically think these products are worthy of adulation and there’s nothing to complain about

It’s just weird

It also strikes me as weird that I see amongst Applebots here folks who I know to be What Culture War sorts

I myself find the products good but overrated and with flaws that aggravate me when I pay 500 for a phone inc upgrade

They break easy

Their gyro is inconsistent

No auto texting period

Will not sync with many GM truck models which they claim was an oversight but they want GM to pay them to fix it

An attitude which seems to be the Apple way

Talk progressive act ruthless

I could go on

Applebots will say I’m wrong or it’s not important anyhow

By my standards as a small business owner I prefer as much Androids and their plethora of apps versus Apple

It’s like iTunes versus Raphsody

iTunes Player rox but Raphsody is far far cheaper but iTunes has Zep and Beatles and ACDC

Hence in my opinion it’s perfectly reasonable to criticize iTunes a bit over cost for sure

Is that a Apple detesting?

This whole thread and title is very misleading

This last quarter reflects the 6 and 6plus intro

Apple mobile phones are worldwide 18% of all users....

But you are quite right.
