Several eyewitnesses say the accident was caused when Bruce rear ended the white car and that car then went into oncoming traffic and was struck by the Hummer. Eyewitnesses say the driver of the white car -- a female -- died.

At worst this is vehicular manslaughter, which might get you jail in California but likely probation and community service. He will pay out the ass for this though in civil court. Even the people in the Hummer will sue him. His only recourse will be to prove that he was endangered by the papparazzi which would necessitate a reasonable escape.
My first accident driving carcwas on PCH. I hate driving it. Luckily I no longer live northh of Malibu and can mostly avoid it.

Sure doesn’t look to me like ‘escape’. Nobody’s going to escape from paparazzi while driving a big SUV with a loaded trailer. Looks like being too distracted. Almost doesn’t matter what he was distracted by.
You would think a deluge of photographs would have been taken if they were right on his tail. This would be a years worth of paydays for them.
