Obama threatens stopping paychecks to 143,000 Homeland Security employees

President Barack Obama claimed on Monday that without a comprehensive budget covering the Department of Homeland Security, more than 130,000 mission-critical employees will be forced to work without pay by the end of the month.

They include 40,000 employed by Customs and Border Protection, 50,000 Transportation Security Administration screeners, 13,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and 40,000 Coast Guard personnel.

Pay would be restored at the end of any withholding period.

'I know how vital you are, and I want to make sure more Americans know how vital you are,' Obama told an auditorium full of DHS employees Monday the department's headquarters, as the White House rolled out his $4 trillion budget request for 2016.

In addition, it's likely that 4,000 people who work for the Secret Service will see paychecks on hold if Obama doesn't strike a deal with Republicans in Congress.

Congress should in kind defund the WH and presidential security. I'd bet those Secret Service agents would love not having to protect that POS.

Congressional Republicans need to start beating the drum right now regarding Obama’s impending veto and how “Obama is closing down the government”.

Those at Homeland Security who enforce copyright laws for Hollywood will be the last to go unpaid.

Notice he did not include the vilified TSA. We must keep those louts on the payroll regardless the cost.

What’d I hear the other day?

Gov’t employees in the DC area have an average salary that is 75% higher than that of the rest of the country...

In other words, Obama is threatening the safety of Americans unless he gets his tax increases.

Maybe they can sell some of that ammo they have been buying? That would help. But, only if they accept cash and no ID.

Who are paid a salary to not do their jobs as ordered by Obama. So why employ them at all?

"Mission Critical" federal employees........Now there is some word smithing by Stretch Armstrong.

My airport experience would be a lot better (and probably safer too) without the TSA goons. I still remember the polite private security screeners we had before September 11, 2001.

They didn't take nearly as long. Plus they actually caught an occasional would-be terrorist because they were more concerned with rooting out suspicious people rather than someone carrying more than 3.5 oz. of shampoo or hair conditioner on board.

If memory serves, the TSA is paid from extra fees that are added to airline tickets. If he does not pay TSA, where will this money be going?

Here’s the fine print though: “Pay would be restored at the end of any withholding period”

So, they what? have to charge their credit cards for awhile...maybe get a (oh no) a REAL JOB for the interim period. Try working at 7/11 and then complain...I think all FEDERAL EMPLOYEES are on the dole and that includes my ex-brother-in-law. So many agencies are BOGUS and a front to funnel money to another democrat slush fund!

He uses this tactic every time he wants money to squander. I say, turn off the tap and let government departments and agencies shut down. High time congress grows a pair and puts an end to this extortion racket.

Good!

Hit the government employees where it hurts most!
(I know, because in a previous time, I was one!)

Maybe this will be the tipping moment of the version 2015 of The Praetorian Guards!
