Football fans might want to start pretending there is something in their eye now in advance of Sunday’s big game, because if Budweiser’s newest Clydesdale commercial has anything to say about it, viewers will be bawling by halftime.

Made me sniffle a bit. I love dogs, always have. We have 2 dogs now that are getting on in years, and I hate to see them getting older.

Once dogs become part of your heart, anything about them, good or bad, can bring tears.

All a story has to do is remind you of times with your dogs
and tears will follow.

I have to be careful to avoid sad stories of dogs, otherwise the waterworks will flow.

I can’t even watch those SPCA commercials on TV, I change the channel, can’t watch them..I have two dogs(Nemo, a Pomeranian mix, and Maxie, a full bred Shih Tzu) both my babies. When Nemo gets sick, I can’t sleep or eat til I know he’s OK..I just love dogs, I like cats too but I am more of a dog person

I thought the one from GoDaddy was hilarious.

Really sad and pathetic but, it made me laugh.

Haha me too. I’m definitely a dog person, but I did get a cat for my dog.

Isis loves cats, though my cat Stormy is a 20 lbs mountain lion that does not take any smack from Isis at all. Isis is a German Shepherd and a gentle soul who likes to play.

As far as those SPCA commercials, those are rough. It’s the eyes of the animals that get to me... I can’t understand how people let this happen or people who do this on purpose. It makes me sad and angry.

My dog Isis had been abandoned in the back yard of an empty house with her mate while pregnant with her liter. They both starved, but they were picked up by the pound eventually and then rescued by a rescue outfit from the pound. All were eventually adopted into homes including the pups. Mama Dog was last to go with me.

When I adopted Isis at 2 years old, she weighed 52 lbs and was a walking skeleton. I have never in my life seen a dog so skinny. The rescue lady told me that the tips of her beautiful ears had been eaten off by flies in the yard, but had since healed.

She’s up around 72 lbs now, and is such a beautiful girl. She is a show quality shepherd, but it is her spirit that truly shines.

Yes they are.

They teach us so many things.

The hardest thing dogs have taught me is how to say goodbye when goodbye is the last thing I want to say.

I know you girls think I’m soft but only commercials tear me up are the St Jude’s or Shriners hospital ads

The Shriners one with the totally burned 13 year old girl fishing on the bank with her daddy

Her watery eyes...whew

The cancer kids that can’t lift their head up off the bed at St Jude’s .....

One of the IED victims at WWP who is obviously so damaged....hard to watch too

Clydesdales make me happy like my own boys Major and Reilly do......Thoroughbred and Hanoverian respectively

“..SPCA commercials”

Standing rule in our house is to immediately change the channel when that commercial comes on. Glad to hear we’re not alone.

I agree! Every time I see that Go Daddy ad, I feel angry.

I heard yesterday that this ad was probably never meant to be aired but to get pre game hype. They made another ad to actually air during the Superbowl.

I got my Anna off the mean streets of New Orleans four years ago. She was 37 lbs, hookworm, heartworm and loaded with fleas. Fours later she’s 62 lbs, gentle and loving and catching up on her sleep as I write.

Apparently GoDaddy pulled this ad tweaked from the Bud doggy commercials due to uproar over puppy mills. Heh.

I do think the ad sucked, being just a typical example of today's humor with an "edge". However, I was a bit peeved at some of the leftist, controlling responses that led them to pull it. While some of the tweets mentioned "puppy mills", some also mention "private breeders". Some of these animal rescue nazis think it is "wrong" to buy a dog from a reputable breeder, and that we should all adopt a homeless dog from a shelter or we are bad people, like republicans or something.

I have bought my last three Pembroke Welsh Corgis from breeders I found at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America. I guess instead of buying a Corgi, I should have adopted one of the many unwanted pit-bulls at the shelter.

What sort of dog is Anna?

I was adopted by a red chow from New Orleans’s streets. A neighbor had brought him to me one day thinking he was my other chow at the time escaped. They looked very much alike.

I left Red Dog in the yard for about two days as I decided whether or not to keep him. He broke out under the house and left, and I was kind of sad, but oh well.

Three days later I was letting my dog out, I opened up the back door, and there was Red Dog right at the door. He had broken back in under the house, so I kept him then.

He came with full blown heart worms, and a coat full of ticks. I didn’t find out about the ticks until two weeks later when they took over my house. That was the best ;/

I had Red Dog for about 11 years after that. I strongly suspect that he had a much better life after adopting me, and I’m glad he did. I miss that old dog.

For insurance purposes the vet calls her an Italian Greyhound mix. In reality, she’s a brown, brindled pitbull mixed with whatever was handy. She’s a sweet, gentle, mild-mannered animal that appears to report to the 23 lb. Beagle who also lives here.
