The gun enthusiast who nearly killed his small town's police chief last week is a free man since cops couldn't find enough evidence to charge him and keep him behind bars. Sentinel, Oklahoma Police Chief Louis Ross was shot four times that morning while raiding a house in connection to a bomb threat at a school, and only survived thanks to a bullet-proof vest he borrowed at the last minute. [snip}
Horton and his wife were arrested in the aftermath, and he later told investigators that he didn't know police were breaking into his home, which Chief Ross finds skeptical. [snip]
'He thought he was protecting his home and his wife. He didn't know what was going on until the door was busted down. And you have a right to protect your family and that's what he was doing.' Despite finding seven firearms and a explosive device in Horton's home, police say they didn't have enough evidence to charge him and he was released from jail later that day.

I don't know what armor the Chief was wearing or the Cal of weapon the
homeowner was using. I'm guessing a pistol, and Soft will defeat pistols.
/Salute
Gas stove.
The bootlickers are outnumbered these days by those who oppose the police state.
Maybe, but use the "donutwatch" keyword and you'll find yourself on the wrong side of the mods. Last time I posted a thread and added the keyword, my thread was zotted and I was logged out.
And, that wasn't the first time.
Whats his freeper handle?
Unless he was wearing a kevlar codpiece. Which, suprisingly, they do make. They call it a “groin protector”. Bulletproof boxers.
CC
Or a firecracker.
Only seven and they call him an enthusiast?
Should’ve shot him in the head.
Sounds more like an abbreviated news summary to me.
That would be the phone company's fault.
You see, there is a small problem with caller ID. Namely, it can be spoofed. (Ask Prince Rupert.) E.g., a hacker can call 911 showing your phone number on the 911 operator's screen and spin any story he sees fit. Then the 911 operator sends the SWAT team to your house, primed for action based on the hacker's story. The result is likely to be interesting.
Nevertheless, the ultimate responsibility lies with the SWAT team. They have the authority and the force. If they do wrong, they deserve whatever happens. If they shoot the homeowner by mistake, that is a crime. Looks like this case, against all odds, turned out OK.
They need to work on the capability to check a call's origin quickly, and they should without exception do so before the very few no-knock raids that are permitted. In any case, even a bomb threat doesn't justify this warrantless no-knock raid.
Sentinel's Mayor Sam Dlugonski has known Horton his whole life and described him to the Oklahoman as a 'gun enthusiast' and 'survivalist', adding that he seemed 'on edge'. Horton's neighbor David Delk gave much the same description, saying he had a general mistrust of government . . .
Apparently, liberals cannot imagine why the victim of this no-knock raid would have a general mistrust of government.
All I see in the article is a man who does less boating than most of us on FR who used to have firearms, and several people who are very lucky that this over-enthusiastic police raid didn't lead to tragedy.
Okay, he's a bit of a freak, and not well-trained. Nail polish? Finger on the trigger? Those aren't crimes, just bad taste and stupidity.
This has me very curious, there isn’t a single conservative that I’m aware of who is OK with them.
Could you PM some members names?
Not off the top of my head.
Just check out any of the threads containing keywords like “stop and frisk”, DUI checkpoints, Border patrol checkpoints, ATF threads can sometimes be good. Things like that. Heck I’m not going back and reading all the posts in this thread but I’d be surprised if there hasn’t been a few defending the raid on this guys house. If not, then things are really looking up.
This no knock raid crap has got to end. It gets police and innocents killed unnecessarily.
The guy’s lucky the police didn’t shoot him Sam Peckinpah style.
I’m not going to bother looking either, for the simple reason that, unless the posters is an infiltrator, and there are always a few, there isn’t going to be a single defender of warrantless searches to be found.
Any infiltrator who does defend such a thing will be attacked mercilessly and zotted.
