James said the plan to retire the A-10s would go into practice over five years, so the planes are still in the inventory for now, and it makes sense to use them.

Will she use that money to recruit transgender, lesbian and Islamic pilots?

Yes, they need to be retired. They give the Americans an unfair advantage over the worshipers of Mohammid.

Pound for pound the most awesome and effective close support weapon in history — the A-10 Warthog. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I guess I missed something... I was under the assumption that the push to end the use of the A-10 was thwarted. This piece insinuates it is done in 5 years... being replaced with the F-35 monstrosity.

I think it’s a bad move to retire such a tough, effective, and relatively inexpensive attack fighter.

But then, nobody in the Pentagon asked *me*...

I wonder how the real pilots and combat airmen truly feel about this USAF Secretary?

Opponents of retirement of the A-10 are under the illusion that the purpose of the military is to defend the nation and fight wars. That is just so quaint and full of machismo! The purpose of the military in the modern enlightened world is to use it as a crucible for the perfection of society, a proving ground for the theories of social organization that spring from the scientific minds of the smartest people in America who reside in our Universities.

Are we replacing all our aircraft with the F-35? Soon they will come up with a heavy lift version to replace the Galaxies and 130s, too. The 35 is such a wondrous airplane!

“Air Force Secretary Deborah James,,,”

Well, I’m sure in her time in the grunts she realized that the A-10s shortcomings were all fixed by the F-35 moonpig. I mean, surely people must realize that a cheap indestructible jet powered cropduster, with like 70 or 80 hardpoints, a gun that could shatter the Hoover Dam, and a lifespan measured in eons simply cannot help procurement officers in any meaningful way.

Bit@h. Men will die over her decision.

Of course she has no regrets, like the man who hired her, her loyalty it to whoever writes for TOTUS. She is a tool with no more loyalty to our country than the man who reads the TOTUS.

Your comment got me wondering if there had been any update on the soldier who died in Texas after returning from taking care of Ebola patients in Africa. Looks like the latest update is that the Army is stalling the autopsy but assures us that he didn’t die of Ebola. Meanwhile they are evaluating the threat to the neighborhood. It isn’t clear from the story I saw whether the neighborhood is still sealed off or if the ‘pool of vomit’ has been cleaned up.

“Are we replacing all our aircraft with the F-35?”

Yes, and ships, submarines and land warfare vehicles will also be replaced by the F-35.

No, they consider the Osprey good for any job the Lighting can't do.
