John Fox, Broncos 'mutually agreed to part ways'
MSN sports ^

John Fox is leaving the the Denver Broncos after four seasons as head coach. Fox is coming off a 12-4 season during which the Broncos earned the AFC's No. 2 seed, but a loss to Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs was apparently the death knell for a coach many perceived was underachieving with a roster built to win a Super Bowl. The two sides "mutually agreed to part ways," according to Adam Schefter.

He probably knows Manning is gone, and he is too old build a team from scratch - just like Jimmy Johnson when he was in Miami or Bill Parcels when he was in Dallas.

Elway needs to step down. He’s in over his head.

That's pretty amazing. A head coach who brought his team to the playoffs the past 3 years straight, including a Super Bowl?

Big mistake, IMHO. Denver will be nothing next year.

You know pro football far better than me, but what you say has the ring of truth to it.

I think too many of us expected a lot more of Manning and the Broncos this year after their collapse in the Superbowl.

Apparently a lot was going on that came to a head this year.

It is not the coach’s fault if the players blow it. They just didn’t try hard enough.

Manning was hurt for over a month and his teammates knew it, hence the lackluster showing yesterday.

Manning needs to think through if he can recover from the injury and be worth anything next year with a blown up team.

Tall order for a 38 year old QB in the NFL.

In comparison to his first two seasons with the Broncos, IMO Manning didn't demonstrate a great deal of energy this year. The only reason he hasn't retired so far is the lack of a Super Bowl win, but he now has the touchdown passing record to make up for it. With big changes coming to the Broncos lineup next year, I can see Manning deciding to retire.

I wonder how many more years Rivers and Eli have in their respective cities before their welcome wears out.

If Victor Cruz comes back with Odelle Beckham, the Giants could be real good again in a hurry.

Agreed, Denver will be nothing. The Offensive Coordinator is leaving too and maybe some other coaches. Then there are all the free agents. I don’t think Manning want’s to come back to this since he knows he won’t win the Super Bowl next year and his clock is ticking. I say he’s done and Denver will be rebuilding for a few years.

Manning needs to get a job sitting between Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long. He is MADE for that job...

Hmmm...

Well, Eli has 2 rings, that buys him time/slack.

Philly, OTOH, nada.

Rapistburger’s also part of that class, also has 2 rings.
