Online searches for trips to Cuba are up a staggering 95 per cent following US President Barack Obama's plans to re-develop relations between the two countries. Tourists are being warned that if they want to see 'the real Cuba' they should book their trips now, before the Caribbean country becomes 'Americanised.' President Obama announced a 'new chapter' in US relations with Cuba, with plans announced by the White House include easing access for US citizens, lessening financial restrictions, and lifting the 54-year-old trade embargo.

And that just from the Freepers who support Barry and the Libs on this.
Libtards refuse to realize that most of what remains functional in Cuban infrastructure are from the days of American influence.
Eric Cartman: Oh my God, it smells like ass out here.
Miss Stevens: All right, that does it. Eric Cartman, you respect other cultures this instant.
Eric Cartman: I wasn’t saying anything about their culture, I was just saying their city smells like ass.
Miss Stevens: You may think that making fun of third-world countries is funny but let me...
Eric Cartman: I don’t think it’s funny. This place is overcrowded, smelly and poor. That’s not funny, that sucks.
I would like to go there and see what is left of all the wonderful colonial architecture before the place is Trumpized.
Yes, please visit the Third World Totalitarian Kleptocracy in its native condition.
do not attempt to go near the political prisons though
Don’t worry a lot of the colonial architecture has been ruined by neglect. Certain sections of Havana have been maintained as a sort of Potemkin Village.

They refuse to realize a lot of things that facts and history prove to be true. And that is definitely one of them.
Go see the “real” Honduras or Guatemala while you still have time....
Unless you get mugged or shot...
My wife is from Guatemala and I have been there a few times. On one trip I went on a day trip across the border to Honduras to go to the Mayan ruins at Copan. I am not some ignorant American who complains when there is no Starbucks around but I am glad there were clean and sanitary places to eat and go to the lavatory when nature called. Also, blessed my wife’s relatives know what they are doing so I was pretty safe. What is funny my daughter’s gringo Spanish teacher complained Antigua, Guatemala is “Disnified.” Yeah it is the most popular tourist spot in Guatemala so it has McDonalds and the like but the Colonial Baroque architecture is 2nd to none and it is authentic. I wish I could dropped this gringo into the Central Highlands of Guatemala in some remote Mayan village and see how long she lasts.
Want to see the real Cuba?
Stand out on a street corner and start giving civics lessons on free enterprise and individual liberty. You’ll be introduced to the real Cuba pronto.
FYI - I love Guatemala.
Besides what you have mentioned:
The island city of Flores, the castle at Rio Dulce, the waterfalls near Poptun, the ruins of Tikal!!!, the beaches in the south, cool volcanoes, the lake at Atlan! etc.
My point was that Guatemala and Honduras have not changed much with NO embargo- and neither will Cuba except for a small tourist strip near the beaches...
Excellent point. I have been to all the places mentioned except for Poptun, climbing a volcano, and the beaches on the Pacific. The place would be a tourist mecca if the gov’t ever got control of the violence. I think the tourists play a big role in the Mayan able to maintain their culture as their fabrics are big sellers with the tourists including me.
I agree 100%! One of the most beautiful places in the world.
And don't get me started on the chicas bonitas!
I might add what is really changing Guatemala is the drug money and the laundering involved. Guatemala City now has modern Western type malls and even the market town my wife’s family is from has a mall. All that stuff is being financed by drug money.
Come visit America become it’s completley Obamatized.
The Cuban economy and infrastructure were developing quite well, the island was self-sufficient in food production, had a decent road network, good railroads, and a good educational system. It did not have a large defense establishment. Cuba was not as developed as Argentina or Chile, but it was head and shoulders above anything in Central America, something like well run Costa Rica, with which it was easily on a par or better off. Yes, there was some extreme poverty, especially in rural areas. But there was not starvation. In all, the country had been working its way up out of the Third World quite successfully, with a heavy American presence and private investment, and not just in Havana Casinos!
The Castro Regime has managed to turn Cuba into something like an African developing nation. Food is rationed. Thousands are held as political prisoners. Many thousands have been executed, many personally by Raúl and the late Che. The infrastructure is gone. The environment has been devastated by deforestation to plant sugar that was sold at subsidized prices to the Soviets in exchange for military hardware, but that now has no market.
The Castro Regime has turned a rich country into a poverty stricken gulag ruled by a failed ideology still believed by our President. It drove Castro. It drives him.
