Maker's 46 finally hits town.

Posted on 12/18/2014 8:48:52 AM PST by jstaff

Maker's 46 bourbon, from the Maker's Mark people, finally hit the local market. Not earth shaking news, I know, but if anyone is a fan of good bourbon this has to be on the list. It's 94 proof but sips like half that, neat, and at room temperature. And, no, I don't have any financial interest, just wanted to share some good news with my buds.

I’ll bring it up at my next AA meeting. I’m sure there’ll be a rush to the stores.

Nice. Something like this is always needed in these interesting times. Have a Merry Christmas!

Got a bottle of Eagle Rare and two bottles of Stagg Jr. Very fine they are. We’ve had some Maker’s around to quite a while, it’s fallen out of favor it seems.

If you have ever watched a loved one go through alcohol withdrawal, you would never touch another drop.

Where available, I always recommend Pogue, single-batch. Other than that, Woodford Reserve.

I’m getting quite picky in my old age.

Maker’s 46 is a nice, easy drink. It’s kind of like kissing your date on the front porch.

If, however, you can get your hands on a bottle of Noah’s Mill that’ll be the stuff that fogs your windows.

Which is not bad when followed by “come on in the house.”

I didn’t know there was a bourbon list. Could you add me?

I’m sure that Pappy Van Winkle is a fine bourbon but I’ll sooner find Amelia Earhart than a bottle of that.

I’m thinking we’ve had 46 here for some time. Have a couple bottles in the cabinet now, well one is almost empty as hubby and I both enjoy it. Is there a new one I don’t know about?

I have found that there are 2 types of bourbon-ites; both are legitimate Americans only with different POVs.

(1) Those that like bourbon for the oaky-smoke and the “finishing” flavors found in good whisky. These folks also like scotch and whiskies from the upper-greatlakes region; canada, hudson river, etc.

(2) Those that prefer whiskies to have a higher alcohol content; they equate the high-proof to better flavor. These connoisseurs are “right” within their peer-group. These folks may have influence of experience derived from the whiskies made in the northern counties of Kentucky (corn-mash ‘stillers).

I am ambivalent regarding both. Whiskies like Knob Creek are very tasty and the higher alcohol content causes one to slowly sip (or, start with a “slammer” and then slowly have your second/last of the evening). Others, Like Eagle Rare have 80-or-less proof but still give great flavor. I prefer using Eagle Rare as a starter for blending my “bottle-bottoms”.

YMMV

I have watched it and I do touch drops. The addictions of others have no bearing on my behavior.

Should I stop eating because some folks have eating disorders?
