Office Christmas Party: 1925
Shorpy.com ^

Posted on 12/17/2014 6:21:25 AM PST by Phillyred

It's the week before Christmas, which means it's time for a hallowed holiday tradition here at Shorpy: The Office Xmas Party! Which has been going on for close to 90 years now. Will Clarence in Sales ever get up the nerve to ask out Hermione from Accounting?

Washington, D.C., 1925. "Western Electric Co. group." There are enough little dramas playing out here to keep the forensic partyologists busy until Ground Hog Day. National Photo Company Collection glass negative.

Love gazing at old photos like this one. So much going on in one long gone moment.

Any guesses what the oilcan in the right foreground is there for? Some party!

Electrical outlets where hard to find back then. The lights for the Christmas tree is plugged into the ceiling light.

Cool old picture.

"Any guesses what the oilcan in the right foreground is there for?"

My guess is that it was a Christmas present from a co-worker. There are allot of little gifts and wrapping paper lying around.

I wonder if her office chair was squeaky?

The brooding chick in the lower left?

I'd hit that.

Looks like the Christmas party at my office. Everyone is thinking they’d rather be someplace else...

There sure are a lot of funny looking white people in that photo.

Definitely worth clicking on the enlarged version. Lots of detail, and an inkling of office politics.

I'd even throw out the word "pathology".

“I’d hit it”

What about the flapper sitting in the lowest row on the our (the viewer’s) right (stage left) with the Zelda Fitzgerald bobbed hair and the seductive look in her eye?

She looks like she might be interesting. I am just guessing, since I am a (normal, not gay) female, so not actually competent to evaluate.

Definitely worth clicking on the enlarged version.

There's a iPhone box on the desktop, just to the right of the scale.

Oil can girl looks like she has already been in to the spiked punch.

The boss really spent big on that Christmas tree.
