I am also a spider saver. Mother taught me not to kill animals needlessly. Unfortunately, many people do not understand how useful spiders are to us.

Ants or flies in my house? That is an entirely different story.

And ants. Ants are awful to me for some reason. We live on a slab and those little friggers can really pile up into the hundreds all over one little crumb dropped if we don’t religiously spray.

then ants
then spiders:)

Did you ever watch Discovery channel’s Naked and afraid? The contestants walk around barefoot (also buck naked hence the name)in all sorts of remote areas including the most recent one, the Amazon jungle, where they ended up with thousands of bites and the first couple had to tap out it was so bad, the mosquitos were just eating them alive all night. But yeah one episode saw them treading through swamp water. You can just imagine what’s in there ugh.

“Did you ever watch Discovery channel’s Naked and afraid?”

Nope. Those type of shows have been around forever, making them naked just means they are using people I would never want to see anyway

Question: Are these things all over Australia? Or are there parts of Australia where you don’t have to worry so much about creepy-crawlies zapping you?

Only bugs I sort of like are the ladybug, fireflies, praying mantis and moths/butterflies. All others I have no guilt over their demise by my hand.

Oh except for one time a black bug wobbled across the carpet and I thought crap that could be a roach eek, as I had brought a hand-me-down papasan chair into the house I was already worried whether I vacuumed it well enough to kill any roaches or other critters that could possible be hiding...so I sprayed, trapped him, studied his body but he ended up being a beatle. I thought he was a goner but his little legs started twitching and I felt bad that he was suffering. I flushed him then. I mean, it really bothered me for a little while.

That’s funny! Like he was either setting up to get revenge on you or wanted to be near you cause he knew you spared his little life:)

One thing you’ll never see in footwear is centipedes....they can’t afford them.

Eh, I’m really into the survivalist type shows for some reason lately. The show “Survivor” has been around something like 29 episodes and I “just” decided to check it out last year. Anyways, the naked part I could do without, it’s just a twist to make it like an “Adam and Eve” thing. The people are strangers and it’s awkward for them at first (which makes it interesting to the viewer of course:) They do blur out stuff. And the people on it have been pretty diverse. But I know I’ll get sick of this genre soon anyways...

“Survivor” is pretty fake though.

But tarantula don’t bite.. we let them crawl all over us as kids.

Doesn't that depend on the specie of tarantula? IIRC, some are quite aggressive and quite venomous. The ones that are sold in pet stores and the ones native to the American SW are docile.

I have also understood that when bitten by a brown recluse, if one goes to the hospital and has them apply a nitroglycerin patch directly to the wound site, it will negate and prevent virtually all of the necrotic damage.

I think Tasmania is not so bad (I have never lived there but I just think the extra cold rules out most venomous creatures) - all over the main land though there are different sorts of snakes and spiders that will do a good job of killing you. The thing is if you take just a little care you will probably never be bitten. Most of the creatures are not aggressive unless you annoy them. I have almost stepped on 2 brown snakes over the years - I froze - they just kept on going - they don’t want the hassle if they can avoid it! You could come here as a tourist and never see anything!

I thought it was snakes, in the woods.

In my house, it’s more like 12 inches.

The little guys are everywhere.

We have an agreement.

:)
