Police have identified the 15-year-old victim as Abdisamad Sheikh-Hussein.
Late Friday morning, the FBI announced it is investigating a hit and run crash that killed a Kansas City teen as a potential hate crime.
Police are saying the driver may have hit the 15-year-old Muslim boy on purpose.
The Muslim community is heartbroken. The Council on American-Islamic Relations says the driver threatened the teen's family and other area Somali Muslims for months, even writing the anti-Islamic message "the Quran is worse than Ebola" on his own Chevrolet SUV.
Zulfiqar Malik of the Heartland Muslim Council says he is shocked and saddened by the crime.
"Most of the Somali community are immigrants,” he said. “They have arrived in Kansas City to escape hatred and now they are here in Kansas City facing hate and that is bad.
"With hate mongering we say usually it's just words and they can't hurt us but sometimes it gets violent. If we cannot love each other we can at least try not to hate each other."
Sgt. Richard Sharp with the Kansas City Police Department said he is going to talk to the prosecutor Friday afternoon and charges could be filed before the end of the day. At that time, the driver's name will be released.

Random attack, police are baffled... oh, the victim is black or muslim? Oh, police aren’t baffled any more, no indeed. It’s a hate crime. I’m sorry, it’s only when the victim is white or Asian that there’s this foggy bewilderment over why anyone would do such a strange thing.
They are describing the perp as a “male in his 30s”. No name or race. If he was white, he would be described as a “WHITE male in his 30s”
Have they revealed the name of the suspect yet? Word is that he is a “former Muslim”.

The driver of the SUV, Ahmed H. Aden, a 34-year-old Kansas City truck driver, told police after his arrest that he had been searching for men who’d threatened him nine days earlier. And he said he planned to kill those men if he found them, according to court records.

There have been incidents in the United States of muslims deliberately running down pedestrians. Tell me, were any of those cases charged as “hate crimes”?
