Houston family rescues dog stuck in jug for months

HOUSTON,- A Houston-area family rescued a 5-month-old puppy last week, after it spent two months running around the neighborhood with a plastic jug on his head.

"Every night I went to bed thinking about that dog and I really felt bad for him having that on his head," Audra Bohannon, of Northwest Harris County, Texas, told KPRC on Monday.

Bohannon said the stray, thought to be a German Shepard mix, probably stuck his head into a plastic pet feeder in her barn. She and her family spent weeks trying to catch him.

When they finally did, Bohannon and her family cut the jug open with metal shears. She posted video of his rescue on her Facebook page.

Bohannon, who says her brother's family plans to adopt the puppy, named him Bucket. She wrote later on Facebook that Bucket is "so happy."

"It's amazing how this dog had a Bucket on his head for two months and now he's playing like any other dog," she wrote.

How did the dog eat and drink to survive for those months the jug was on its head?

I wonder if the local cats took the opportunity to pick on him.

More Beagle than German Shepard.
I would have named it Jughead.

I think the story is fictitious.

“She and her family spent weeks trying to catch him.”

How can you NOT out-manuever a dog with his head stuck in a jug?

That’s nothing. Ted Kennedy was stuck in a jug for 77 years.

I must be getting REAL old...

My first reaction to JUG was a moonshine jug...but if that were the case ‘they’ would have made a better effort to get it back.

Of course, ‘Mother JUGS and Speed’ came to mind also.

How NON PC that title is as it meant exactly what dubious minds think it should/does.

I think so!

There is no other reasonable explanation.
