Odds on U.S GOP 2016 nominee. Date: Uncertain
Highlights ======= Jeb Bush 3-1 Rand Paul 5-1 Scott Walker 10-1 Ted Cruz 16-1 Mike Huckabee 28-1 Sarah Palin 33-1
I am so sick of having the GOPe decide who I should vote for. We made good progress this year. But too many good old boys got reelected. Maybe by 2016 enough folks will have awakened that we can get a slew of Tea Party types elected.
Running a liberal is such an obvious loser you have to wonder if the GOPe wants to win.
Has it occured to anyone here that maybe the RINOs DON’T want a republican for president in 2016?
Think about it. I think that the GOP-e are perfectly happy with their second string status. It gives them cover to continue being a bunch of spineless cowards, absolves them from taking any heat for messing things up in general, and most important: they get to keep their cushy gigs in office, while burning conservatives and democrats for fun and profit.
We need new. fresh outlook in the next election It is not Jeb Bush. Nor do I think it is Rand Paul, although some of the things he says are good. Ted Cruz says all the right things, but he has been badly damaged by the media - is it possible for him to overcome this and ‘talk over’ the MSM and directly to the people?
Marco Rubio is a possibility.
However, I do think a governor is the best choice so we ought to be looking at several people and challenging them to come forth with ideas and, to let us see whether they are good enough at the back and forth rhetoric that will be the center of any Presidential campaign.
John Kasich might fit the bill. Mike Pence seems too tepid to me. Bobby Jindal is also a possibility. Both John and Bobby have good governor credentials as well as speaking abilities. We need to stay away from anyone from the northeast corridor, IMHO.
Then there is Scott Walker, who I deeply admire. But, is he ready for the BIG stage? He does not seem to have a fire in his belly for Washington politics, and is not a great speaker.
We still have time for others to come forth. Paul Ryan Susanna Martinez? Nikki Haley? Rick Perry?
One ting is clear to me - we Conservatives must NOT ALLOW OURTSELVES TO BE DIVIDED - not by the MSM, not by the Democrats (a bit redundant), and not by our own desires for the ‘perfect’ candidate. We need a statesman (or stateswoman), who will put the needs of the American people first, including our national security. UNITED WE CAN CAPTURE THE WHITE HOUSE IN 2016.
One more thing to answer myself - yesterday I was in my car and listening to an interview of Greg Abbott, the newly elected Governor of the Great State of Texas! He is finishing several terms as AG in Texas.
Now, Greg is not only a good speaker, he is attractive, conservative, and he is handicapped, but has overcome this problem with intelligence and hard work.
It will be interesting to see how Greg’s profile rises in the next few years. He may be the big surprise in 2016! What are your opinions on this?
Well, he kicked Wendy’s ass from a wheel chair.
