My favorite comedic actor is Tom Cruise. Many people don’t think he’s funny but I think he’s funny in a funny kind of way.
I would rank Buster Keaton in his prime at the top. Chaplin a close second up to maybe The Great Dictator. Hard to pick a third after those two giants whose work is fast closing in on the century mark. That means their work is no longer due to popular taste at the time of creation but morphing into timeless art. Now that I have thought about it Lucille Ball during the I Love Lucy run. So Keaton Chaplin Ball.

I left him off the list only because I’m not certain that you can technically call his appearance in any film that he was in “acting”. But the man just killed me every time I saw his act, never failed.
My other favorite: “I get home a little early from being on the road doing shows; I don’t want to go home just yet...so, I call a cab and tell the driver, “take me to where the action is!”. So, he takes me home!
