To Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), "white cracker" isn't derogatory -- it's a "term of endearment."
The longtime congressman ruffled some feathers last year when he told the Daily Beast that members of the tea party were the same group of "white crackers" who tried to fight desegregation in the South during the Civil Rights movement.
In a Monday interview with HuffPost Live, Rangel expressed surprise that those comments received backlash.
"I thought that was a term of endearment, you know," Rangel said. "[The tea party is] so proud of their heritage and all the things they believe in."

It is a list of endearments.
I can tell if we keep going the mods will squish us. lol
“Democrat desegregationists”
Ooops, I meant the Dem segregationalists! Jeesh that was a huge one...
Filthy hypocrite racist.
In other words, shut up and take your beat-down.
Yes, and I thought a chigger was a politically incorrect insect.
Had to look that one up.
Yeah, I'm still laughing...
.
Same here. I have never really cared what anyone thought of me and after the last 6 years of the Democrats even less so now.
That is Chiggro-American to you my fine FRiend!
Chiggro-Americans have just as many rights as you and in some cases even more so careful there, mind your manners!

White crackers who tried to fight desegregation in the South during the Civil Rights movement.
What members of his party stood on the steps of the high school and who was in the KKK ................
Is old Charlie a “who wheat cracka” or a “rye cracka”?
Graham cracka, saltine cracka etc.
No, n*gger, it's not.
More of that liberal ‘wordity’ - “terms of endearment”.
Last night, listening to Mark Levin’s radio show ... which replayed MIT-professor J. Gruber’s latest ‘wordity’ - “ObamaCare subsidies error was a typo”.
There is always some excuse for something wrong, explained away by the left’s wordity.
You're right, Charlie, the Tea Party is proud of their heritage and all the things they believe in.
Those "white crackers" who were fighting desegration during the civil rights movement?! They were Democrats! You know, Al Gore, Sr., J. William Fulbright (Bill Clinton's political mentor), Robert Byrd, etc.
Awful “Ni+×÷% dly” of you but yeah, I take it as a term of endearment and proof of white supremacy.
Whack job.
Wrong. Fighting desegregation was the hallmark of Democrats. The Tea Party is Republican oriented and is not in the business of discriminating against blacks.
“To Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), “white cracker” isn’t derogatory — it’s a “term of endearment.”
Yeh kind of like N@@$@r. LOL!
Kind of like if I called him n*gga
Right.
