"We live in a world where the entertainment media and the news media alike have demonized the firearm as a frightening, high-efficiency killing machine. A myth has arisen that I call “hierarchy of lethality.” It is the false belief that the firearm represents the nuclear level of hand-held weaponry, and is somehow more lethal than other deadly weapons...."

Even if I had a gun and he didn’t, I’d be damned scared of Ayoob. That rare combination of really understanding what he’s talking about and communicating it well.

The gun is not the weapon. I'm the weapon.

The knife is not the weapon, I'm the weapon.

The crowbar is not the weapon, I'm the weapon.

The cricket bat with half a dozen finishing nails driven into it (an old favorite of mine) is not the weapon. I'm the weapon.

The advantage of the gun is that I'm a lot more dangerous a long ranges than I am with a crowbar or an enhanced cricket bat. That said, ammo is expensive....

Within 10 feet - basically any time indoors - I’d rather have my katana than a gun...

Ever see the slab that a well-swung double-bitted axe will take out of a standing tree?

“The gun is not the weapon. I’m the weapon.”

Or, like Doc Holliday said in the movie...”I’m your huckleberry.”

Yes, as a matter of fact I have. But I never trained with an axe. Have trained with my katana.

That said, an axe is a very effective weapon. Had two friend who carried tactical axes in Fallujah...
