I thought that too but you still can’t tell how it was counted.
If going electronic, they should have results online.
Say you’re assigned a number when you get there. Something like a polling place number concatenated w/a sequential number.
Have them publish all results online so you can not only check how your vote was counted but you can tabulate the votes yourself.
Would actually be easy to do though you’d need enough servers to handle the load. That’d be a bit pricy, but worth it. I think the integrity of the vote is essential to freedom.
If ballots don’t count, there’s only one way to stop tyranny.
So, it’s either ballots or bullets.

You are assigned a unique number already. There's no such thing as a 'secret ballot'.
The pundits can tell you how many white men over 50 voted for Obama or any other statistic. Only way they could get that info is to know who voted for whom.
Anyway, there has got to be a way for a voter to see how their vote was counted.
It could come to bullets, I think, except that middle classes don’t revolt. They are too busy producing goods and services and maintaining their families. When the middle class ceases to be, which is on the Democrat/Socialist/Moslem agenda, then, if the middle class still has its guns, it might be different.
That would allow for voter coercion/intimidation, defeating the entire purpose of a secret ballot.
