During his career my Dad managed a number of Harvard and MIT grads. He had real respect for the MIT alums but little use for the Harvard grads. He used to say “you can always tell a Harvard man,but you can’t tell him much”.

What does the one thing ~ “methodological naturalism” ~ have to do with the other thing ~ the origin of the Universe?

The same is true of Neil deGrasse Tyson's highly regarded Cosmos series, whose 13 episodes ran earlier this year on Fox and National Geographic TV..

Pure tripe.

The fine tuning of the constants of physics certainly suggests design since even slight deviations makes life impossible. Rather than accept the obvious answer they are willing to create entire random universes when you can’t make so much as a micro-gram out of nothing. Which is the side embracing a faith in something and which is the one basing its judgment on provable facts?

Tyson and MacFarlane are just pushing their religion. Religion is just a belief system. Christians are blessed with many examples of rich, thriving cultures and successful government systems like the one that grants Tyson and McFarlane the platform to express their beliefs.

Sadly for Tyson and MacFarlane our only experience with fully atheist governments lead to 100 million dead people in the 20th century, massive repression of speech and though, and a terror-inspiring security apparatus that enforced atheist orthodoxy. If they think that’s a good example, then they’re obviously deluded.
