OK I’m Christian but love Halloween. Living in rural country and haven’t had trick or treaters for years. I’m going to do the church TRUNK OR TREAT. Of course my trunk will be BATTY!!!!!!

1st the bat quilt of many, many bat T-shirts on the bottom. Then I will raid the bat china cabinet and have many, many bat things around. I plan to win the best themed trunk.
(had a freeper visit recently and she asked if I was decorating for Halloween? The china cabinet was behind me and I said , “no it is always like that!” LOL

I might even read a bat book, either StellaLuna or Bats at the Beach! Great books. LOL

‘I used to give out candy, when I had an income and before the prices went insane. But truthfully I was getting angry for years with ghetto kids bussing in take over the neighborhood, but the capper was when fat, you know whats started coming up to the door after their kids with a sack of their own, when I would ask what the sack was for they would tell me in barely understandable English that it was for the bay at home I just shut the door in her face turned and turned out the lights. That was three years ago and I never looked back.’

That same crap happened to me ten years ago when I lived in Las Vegas. Ever since I moved back to Colorado (not that we have any trick-or-treaters in this high-mountain, small town) I turn off the lights.

What a sorry and pathetic country this has become compared to the one I grew up in back in the 50’s.

‘The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there.’

Halloween is supposed to be “demon-infested and garish”. That’s the whole point. Just like Christmas and Easter, it’s an ancient Pagan holiday. But unlike Christmas and Easter, the early Christians couldn’t figure out a way to incorporate it into the Story of Jesus. But it still persists in the cultures of even the most enlightened humans.

Refusing to lobotomize a pumpkin or go anywhere near the parade.

Is that the movie with Rick Moranis and the big, jive-talking, man-eating plant that looks like a giant Muppet?
I love that flick.

I grew up in the 70's.

We made our own costumes, went trick or treating every year, visited haunted houses and spook alleys, and loved the houses with the lights on and Halloween decorations up.

I'm doing my small part to keep this country from becoming more sorry and more pathetic by making sure kids today can have the same happy memories of Halloween when they grow up.

I'm "that house" in our area that goes completely over the top with Halloween decorations and hands out tons of candy on the big day.

In my neighborhood, the little kids usually wind up with plastic grocery bags full of candy from going house-to-house. The teenagers around here who are too old to go trick-or-treating will often beg the neighborhood parents to let them “guard” the little kids through the neighborhood at night, so that way they get lots of candy, too.
What am I going to do? I’m going to put on my vintage Grateful Dead t-shirt (which is two sizes to big for me). The bright orange one with the skulls and roses on it that I would never dare wear in public. And I’m going to pass out fistfuls of mini Hershey bars, Tootsie Pops, and Gummy Crabby Patties.
And I’m going to take photos of all the cute little kids in their costumes. And there will probably be about 50 Ninja Turtles roaming around here that night. I don’t know about you, but I love Halloween.

No One comes to our door any more ... way out in the country rural, and the last time .. about ten years ago .. we gave out an apple, a toothbrush and a gospel tract Crickets ever since.

Same with our area since '92 - houses so far apart that a kid would lose 10 lbs to gather 3 candy bars. We go to our daughter's place so my wife can go around with the grand kids (she loves it) and I hand out the candy.

Yes, that’s the one.

And Steve Martin as the psycho dentist, and Ellen Greene (who was from the original off-Broadway cast) who knocks it out of the park with her big number “Suddenly Seymour”.

The music & lyrics are by the same guys who did “Little Mermaid” for Disney.

Who wants to answer the door to 'trick-or-treater' who are dressed as hood rats, mumbling, incomprehensible feral 'yoof'
that one would normally avoid as the 'black plague' that they indeed are nowdays.

When I lived in Las Vegas for a few years Halloween was a zoo.

All of the Ghetto and Barrio kids would come to the better neighborhoods. They were insolent, rude, and demanding. I quit after 2004.

Today, I’m back in the Southern Rockies and in this small mountain town there is no trick or treating. Even if there was, they’d have to get past my gates and fences.

Suits me just fine.
