13 Tips For Dating A Mormon
http://www.yourtango.com/2012140881/13-tips-dating-mormon#.VEe40vnF8jE

10. Don’t Go There topics: Multiple wives and magic underwear jokes are really old, most Mormons will be polite about them, but just don’t make them. The mainstream church no longer okays polygamy, and this is a sore subject so steer clear.

The practice of wearing underwear goes back to Old Testament times.

It seems that one of the things the pagans liked to do in order to cement their allegiance to a god was to stand in line that proceeded up to the god and when they (men and women) would get in front of it they would lift up their clothing to reveal their naked private parts.

A concerned rabbi came up with the idea of the loin cloth to discourage the Jews from participating in the pagan practice.

But they don’t wear them under their clothing like Mormons do. They say that underwear is supposed to protect them from harm. Even when they shower one foot is always touching the undergarment.

Gold weighs 1,204 pounds per cubic foot, so if we use the dimensions given by Smith we can correctly conclude that the plates were 1/6 of a cubit foot. In other words, if the plates were made of gold, they would have weighed 200 pounds. This becomes problematic since no one believes that it is physically possible to carry such a weight for any considerable distance, much less be able to run away from thieves bent on stealing the plates.

You mean there really is such a thing?

I thought the Mormon magic underwear was an old wives tale.

Maybe they were gold plated on the outside with aluminum on the inside. Kind of like the sandwich coins only these would be sandwich plates.

Aha! I always wondered what goes on at the Hollywood Obama fundraisers.

When I was in Army flight school in 1970, the mishies came to my BOQ room & while attempting to confiscate my beer & cigarettes, they tried to persuade me that Mormon garmies would protect me in a crash & burn even better than our fire resistant flight suits.

Since that meant that a postcrash fire would leave me as an intact headless torso, I said “no thanks”.

Look into this: a majority of ex-Mormons shed their belief in God along with their garmies, & become atheists. Strange?

"There is nothing magical or mystical about temple garments, and church members ask for the same degree of respect and sensitivity that would be afforded to any other faith by people of goodwill."

Agreed. Silly superstitions of any faith should get the same respect. None.

Totally False and asinine.

I'm married to a Mormon who wears the garments, they're underwear period. The underwear is rather plain and if it weren't for the little symbols sewn onto them you could buy them at any store that sells undergarments. They have sacred symbols on them to remind them of the promises they made to God. They are a protection to them in the same way that people who are true to their faith are protected by God. Only cynical, Non-Mormons call them “Magic Underwear”.
