I have the same cultural divide in my home. My wife insists that Fox News is only watched by knuckle dragging red necks who must have their news dumbed down and presenting a single point of view. Her favored news sources are NPR and CNN which in my view are just propaganda arms of the Obama administration which slavishly regurgitate the latest talking points. Needless to say we do not often have political discussions.
The liberal's explanation of why Fox News attracts a bigger audience than the other networks combined fits their world view that the vast majority of Americans are too dumb to make the "right"decisions in their lives and must have liberal elites and big government make these decisions for them.

News in just a case made, much like a lawyer.... Oops, that is the problem when Lawyers take over politics - everything results in an argument and must be decided by case law. Even headlines are used as opening statements in framing the argument. I rest my case, you be the jury.
