" “Ebola Stricken” - Sounds like a bit player in an Ingmar Bergman film."

Didn't he do that movie about the guy playing chess against the Grim Reaper during the Black Death:

Perhaps more appropriate than you imagined.

And what would the logistics be to have this person actually tested for ebola infection? All the ripple effects from ONE ebola case in the US and our idiot ‘leader’ still refuses to restrict travel from west Africa.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Physician attire for protection from the Bubonic Plague or Black Death.

(See LINK for purpose of wide-brimmed black hat, primitive gas mask in the shape of a bird’s beak, long black overcoat, wooden cane and leather breeches.)

WTF?

I think we need to retrain nurses on infectious disease protocols. Flying, going on cruses, while on the Ebola watch list?

Texas Preb. Hospital is done.

As usual early information is sometimes errant. Most articles say “no symptoms” “possible exposure” 19 days earlier.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/10/17/cruise-ship-carrying-texas-ebola-nurse-refused-entry-in-belize/

Yet one ore more say someone is showing symptoms. It is unusual to go more than 12 days from exposure/infection without showing symptoms, if actually infected.

Some people with ebola didn’t have a fever at all or not until after other symptoms showed up.

You can’t say that everyone will have the same symptoms in the same time frame or same order.

Maybe they take a pain reliever for another reason and it happens to also be a fever reducer thus masking the fact they do in fact have a fever.

My normal temp is lower than most peoples, but I tend to almost always have a low grade fever due to minor infections so my temp is usually normal or slightly above normal. The only way I can tell if my fever is due to a more serious infection is when I get the chills.

The workers will be asked to sign papers saying they will avoid public transit and public places.
Need to kick this in actshun master resident . period as you would add. No LIE.
Would not have this situation if you had done the travel restriction from the source. Now you talk of containment???¿ a lot too late!

It’s bad enough when it is just norovirus.

God help those people.

No more cruises for me!

Take into consideration that one drop of Duncan’s blood contained about a gazillion spirochetes.

And the blood lab folks are not wrapped up in hazmat suits, nor are they double-gloved.
