‘The pregnancy was unplanned, so I’d already been through the standard worry, mainly about our financial situation. Then when we went for our 12-week scan, everything seemed fine and I felt happier. It was then my wife, Karen, now 39, decided to have the Bart’s screening test, which can indicate conditions such as Down’s syndrome.
The test is offered to all mums-to-be, but it’s not compulsory. I think it was instinct on her part – we’d declined it with our other kids, Harry, now 11, and Joe, eight, and had no complications.
Our results came back a week later with a 1 in 12 chance of our baby having Down’s syndrome. In the UK, 1 in 200 is classed as high, so 1 in 12 felt almost inevitable. When Karen called with the results, I rushed to be with her.
Karen cried a lot over the next 24 hours. I had to be strong for my wife, but I was lost. We had serious decisions to face – could we cope with a baby with special needs? How did we feel about abortion?
The hospital offered us an amniocentesis test, to find out for sure. This is where a sample of amniotic fluid is taken to give a near 100% accurate result. We took the amniocentesis and six anxious days later, doctors confirmed our baby would have Down’s syndrome. Karen and I both wanted to carry on with the pregnancy – we didn’t even consider the alternative, so when the question was raised by staff we dismissed it. They seemed surprised. I assume because a shocking 90% of UK pregnancies with Down’s syndrome are terminated.

But that isn’t what happens in most cases, yes?
In most cases it is binary — Downs (or other morbidities) = death.
I am not suggesting amnio analysis is not a good idea. It is what is done when analyses result in a less than desired outcome.
Today, it is generally kill the child.

I didn’t mean black and white races. I meant black and white, as in “it’s not as black and white as it seems”. Well I know it is, evil is evil, and good is good. A war, in THIS country, is coming. If you think Obama is a dictator, you haven’t seen nothing yet. Obama is simply a forerunner, and the end result will be much worse. We have sacrificed Freedom all in the name of tolerance and it gets much , much worse from here on out. Read the history of other countries that were once free. Draw the parallels.
Always goes something like this. The patriots sit on their hands criticizing their governments but not acting. Government starts imposing more and more tyrannical laws, government takes the guns, then people die.

And it IS always good to learn something occasionally.
But that is on the so called parents not the medical advancement.
I agree that in more cases than not that the outcome is abort but it’s still a positive medical advancement. What the parents decide is on them and their conscience.
Some people would like to “prepare” while others don’t really want to know until they have to deal with it.
It’s sorta the same with ultrasounds given to those who choose to abort. They have the medical science available to make informed choices and whatever those choices may be are separate from the science provided.
We have a tremendous amount of science available now and it’s for the best because people can make informed choices whether or not we agree with those choices.
I didn’t want to know the results but some may want to know.
Also, we should be able to discuss all the trials/tribulations associated with dealing with special needs kids, including those who are DS. It’s not all wonderful. It’s not all “DS kids/adults are special and gentle and loving and happy” Sometimes it’s hard and awful and tiring and debilitating and incredibly expensive to the family. Yet the family does it anyway because the parents didn’t murder their less than perfect child.
Information is never a negative, imo.
WE used to have great gangs of angry black youths. They preyed on downtown L.A. and other parts of urban-blighted cities. Remember the Black Pathers and other moron-types?
You can BET their parents WEREN'T married when "junior" was born. You can BET that many of them blame their troubles on whitey. Unwed motherhood is the BANE of poor, urban blacks. They are doomed to live out their lives in the "projects" of their cities: a lose-lose all the way around.
Why their (black) church pastors don't harangue on about unwed motherhood and sex-outside-of marriage is beyond me. I guess SOME sins are to be ignored in SOME areas of this country. PROBABLY said pastor would have an empty church before he could say "holy mackerel."
ONE thing you DON'T see in sub-Saharan Africa (black Africa) is UNWED mothers. Girls and women MARRY first. THAT is their way. American blacks DE-civilized from their African ancestors in THAT area of life.
We didn't do the amniocentesis test because it posed a risk to the baby and provided no information for which anything could be done about it anyways.
By the way he also had a cleft lip.
The “specialist” that we went to I'm Dallas was a supreme @$$hole and I quickly came up with the nickname Dr. Doom for him.
The screening said there was a 1 in 15 chance of DS.
He recommended that we do the test so we would know for sure and “have all options available.”
My wife looked at me (since I'm the lawyer I guess) and I promptly said “doc, I already know our two options- we will love him until the day we die or until the day he dies, but we aren't going to murder our child- so no more “options” talk.
He was born on October 14, 2011 very early in the morning (like deliriously long day) with a cleft lip (not a cleft pallet though), and we learned right away he had DS.
We were a little I'm shock as they took him away quickly to get him breathing better.
He was in the NICU over night (in fact for 7 days because of oxygen levels), but the next morning I held him and felt no different about him than I did my other “normal” and “beautiful” kids.
Three months later his lip was fixed by a world renowned surgeon, and he went through it perfectly.
Our other kids (7 daughter and 5 son at the time) fell in love with him immediately.
A few weeks after he got home I was praying for him as I rocked him to sleep, and I heard a whisper from the Lord that I didn't expect.
I sincerely believe that God told me “Ryan, you are MY special needs child, so I knew you needed Reagan.”
I pondered on this for a while and the meaning was clear. There were things in my heart that had become hardened and twisted (I blame it on the day job) that needed to change.
He has brought a clarity and perspective on life to our home that we would have missed out on if we has followed the heavy handed “advice” from the medical establishment.
I just wanted to share a small part of our story because it crushes me to know how many of the wonderful and innocent people get killed without even a chance to be adopted.
The eugenics movement is alive and well in this country, and I want to shout from the rooftops about the truth of DS.
If you or someone you know is pregnant with a baby with DS and you want to message me please do so. Having been through the scare tactics and BS the doctors spew, I want to share the truth and encourage these people.
By the way, Reagan lights up the place wherever we go.
And in only three years my wife has come across a woman carrying a baby with DS who was in turmoil over whether to have an abortion.
I'm happy to say that after they met Reagan and saw the joy in our family they ALL gave birth to and kept their babies. That is the work of God.
Now we home school the older two, and while my wife is teaching one, the other takes responsibility to play with and watch over their little brother. They do it with a genuinely pure heart and without griping at all. They just adore and love him. It really is beautiful to see.
Sad that the pregnancy was “unplanned” and that they took the amniotic test. They should have just made love the way God intended - let go and let God. The baby would come and it would have Downes and they would not kill her and nothing would change but dread and worry.
If a baby results, when the baby is born, you see what God provided you for His Greater Glory and ride the wave. Some never have a child - for His Greater Glory and ride the wave. Total faith, true faith. Struggle He will help you with. No one has time to fret with a baby on their hands.
What will happen when you get too old? Trust in God. Really. Have faith. Provide as He directs you, leave the rest to Him who blessed you with her.
I know Down kiddies have health problems but they are just so damned cute. When I see little Trig my heart goes PING! And I don’t even like kids.
Ms Joey also ended up having a hysterectomy for cancer shortly after Indiana's birth. You can tell from the early photos she will be a 'mild' case.
Our good friend Lisa is in her 40's, her mom raised her, and she can do most any thing any other adult can, except drive. She does go into panics easy though when things don't go as she expects them to.

Early voting has started in TN. 4 Amendments to the state constitution are on the ballot for Nov. Yes On 1 is to curb Abortions. We are asking Tennesseans to vote YES on Amendment 1, and to NOT VOTE FOR THE RINO GOVERNOR, he is governor by default any way.
We are asking for a NO vote on #2 LIBERAL JUDGES
YES on #3 prohibiting a payroll or state income tax.
#4 Amendment is up to your moral compass as it expands the lottery into ORGS, with out naming them, opening a bard door for future expansion to God only knows what ORG.

I previously thought that it couldn't be genetic because, being a recessive gene coupled with a very low likelihood of reproducing, that it would have died off. However, I do realize that until quite recently most homosexual men did marry and reproduce, if only to keep their homosexuality a secret. Additionally, there are exceedingly few women, even today, who are strictly lesbian; perhaps a maternal desire overcomes everything else, but they often have children.
Nevertheless, I am inclined to think that homosexuality is a deviant mental disorder that is not genetic.

My overall guess (and I am not a geneticist nor do I play one on TV and I stay at Marriott not Holiday Inn Express) is you are right — it more like pedophilia and looking at how many pedophiles are gay they are probably linked to the same mental disorder.
With < 1% of the population gay (the real number) aberration makes more sense.
But it is tey gays themselves who insist it is genetic, not realizing that if they are right they are doomed.
But you and I will be right there ensuring they are not murdered...
