They should’ve put up there the 1944 movie, The Uninvited (which btw, I love and consider it a good movie) but for the end...

As they all laughed the wicked ghost away Stella’s poor kindly grandfather who only seemed to have thoughts of her safety throughout the whole movie (played by Donald Crisp) was laying in the other room dead from a sudden heart attack.

No one seemed to care at all, they moved right into that scene of gaiety and laughed away. How could she do that, the only living relative who cared for her, he just died, and she knew it.

All I could think of was Donald Crisp (the grandfather) standing behind them, now a ghost, seeing them all laughing away and he’s saying, “I’m going to push you ALL off the cliff!”

I hate the way Gone With the Wind ends. I’m probably the only person in the world who hates the ending. :-)

Breakout (1975).

Well, actually that was a bad movie ruined by an awful ending.

2001 is the all time winner for bad endings. It seems as if they just ran out of ideas and hoped everyone was stoned while they burned up miles of film on light show garbage.

I Am Legend (2007) doesn’t belong on this list because..it wasn’t a good movie to begin with so the ending didn’t matter.

Apocalypse Now? Saw it with the original ending when it first came out. Better than the change.

I have seen Superman 1978 but can’t remember how it ended. How did it end?

The Lord of the Rings, by leaving out Tolkien’s Scouring of the Shire, which was the whole point of the story.

You’re not qualified to make this list unless you include “The Big Chill” near the top. They took a meandering ensemble script about Baby Boomer angst and stuck a Love Boat ending on it where everyone jumps into bed with someone not their spouse and come out thinking everything is okay. One of the worst movie endings of all time.

The one movie I found where the ending was so bad, I wanted to demand my money back was M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village”. I loved The Sixth Sense but after The Village, I never wasted my money on another one of his movies.

2001: A Space Odyssey. I hated the ending but I also hated the beginning and the middle. I even hated the credits.

“Being Human” with Robin Williams was _amazing_.
Except being gutted by the happy ending.

“A.I.” didn’t just have an ending, it had at least 3 endings - could have stopped just fine at many points along the way.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind(1977).

I paid close attention to this movie ending a few years ago. It made me hate the movie. SPOILER-— he leaves his family.

FLAP with Anthony Quinn. AKA Nobody loves a Drunken Indian or No one loves Flapping Eagle.

I walked into the theater in the last two minutes of the movie. Ruined it for the rest.

Beetlejuice. REAL silly ending.
