All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.
A few items...

Good. No doubt, your dad’s Alzheimer’s has taken its toll on her, too, so hopefully, she will be able to rest, now.
I just got back from looking at three cats at the vets office. A black one, a tuxedo one and a white one with orange spots. I like that last one, but she is three and a half. The black one is the youngest at 18 months, but she has been there the longest.
It’s $40 per cat, but that’s for the chip registration fee. It doesn’t look like any of them with be adopted, any time soon. The white one is long-haired...the tuxedo is overweight. The black is just right! LOL!
Prayers
Thanks!
Best wishes with your weather. We have cold and rain, but the weather-guessers currently believe it will be in the 60s on Sunday.
I have a very busy day today (I HATE that) so I don’t think I will even be able to catch up on posts, let alone contribute. I just dropped in to wish everyone a
Very Blessed Thanksgiving Day!
An overweight cat is more likely to have health problems. A longhaired cat will give you fur problems. A black cat will destroy your soul. Tough choice ... (;-)
I still have to get the litter box, litter, and foods for whichever, but I’ve pretty much decided on the black one. The white one is pretty and charming, but I don’t want white hair all over everything all the time.
Anyway, I doubt I can afford to get it on payday, as I will need to get the things it needs, before I get the cat. They have all been there at least two months, so I don’t think someone will adopt them any too soon.
Yes, there seems to be no rush for anyone to adopt them. If you let the vet know you want the black one, maybe they’ll let you owe them the chip fee until you have the money. After all, they’re paying to feed it!
I have a number of friends who are now facing their first Thanksgiving without husband, or mother, or father. It brings a sad note into things, but the "Thanks" keeps getting bigger and bigger.
I pray you many graces; I give you many thanks.
I don’t know why but people don’t want to adopt black cats because they are superstitious.
Which is silly, this isn’t medieval times.
I hope the cat is your by Christmas.
May his memory be eternal!
I will check with them later about letting me owe them, but not until I have a litter box, litter and enough food for the month. I figure the food will run about $30 and haven’t checked on the litter and box, but since I’m not going anywhere the next two days, I won’t have any real clue. I pulled it up online week or two ago and seem to recall it would cost about $20 for the box and litter.
All of that is more than I can handle at the moment.
Black cats are “lucky” for the owners!
If I had the stuff I need, I would already have the kitty. No doubt. I would have gone up there this morning and come home with a cat, for sure. Her name is April, but that’s just because it’s when they took her in for the first time. I thought of naming her something like “Spot” Or “Blizzard” or “Snowball”. Or maybe even “Speck.”
;o]
Tax-Chick, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for you, your mother, and the rest of the family.
God bless you
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Tax-Chick. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
I lost my father-in-law a couple of years ago to Parkinson's. It was so sad to see that vigorous man, always sharp as a tack, slowly lose his faculties.
Thank you, Uncle K., will be for me!
Thank you all very much. We had years to prepare, so although the sudden medical decline in the last month was a little unexpected, we always knew it could happen like that.
You could call her April until you get to know her.
Indeed. My plan exactly. But it will be a while, yet.
