Thomas Eric Duncan should be indicted for premeditated murder, tried and executed. News sources now say this man carried an Ebola-infected relative to and from the hospital (no treatment available for her - sympathy there). He had to know he had been exposed to Ebola and in all likelihood was going to be infected. Yet, he deliberately came to the U.S. to visit relatives, went to the doctor and still did not tell the medical staff there about his exposure and then ended up in the ER around many other people and was diagnosed.
This man is not innocent in this matter. It appears that knowing he was going to be infected and with proper documents and means to get to the U.S. where he could get better treatment, he exposed untold numbers of innocent people to a deadly disease which will probably end up killing many of them and others who try to treat them. He is guilty of premeditated murder to try and save his own life.
He knew he had Ebola when he got on that airplane. He should at least do some prison time for contaminating America.
No, a newspaper did not report that. The NYT reported that five people died who had direct contact with the bodily fluids of Marthalene Williams, who is the woman he carried to and from a taxi. None of those five were sickened by Duncan.
If you are correct, then you just validated my point that he knew he had Ebola. He knew it kills people and quickly. And, he still got on the plane and exposed other people all the way to Dallas?
Probably. I think it likely that he knew he was ebola exposed—and hightailed it to the U S where treatment was likely to spare his life.
We will soon be drawing them like flies to a summer family picnic.
"A newspaper reported that 6 people who had contact with him has died. Do not know where they got that info. We may never know the whole truth."-MamaBProbably from the NYT. . .
*****BACKGROUND Mr. Duncan had direct contact with a 7 mos. pregnant woman, 19 year old Marthalene Williams, stricken by Ebola on Sept. 15, just four days before he left Liberia for the United States. Mr. Duncan was a tenant in the Williams house. Turned away from a hospital for lack of space in its Ebola treatment ward, her family said they (father, brother and Duncan) took Ms. Williams back home that evening, and that she died hours later, around 3 a.m. Her brother, Sonny Boy, 21, started getting sick about a week ago, his family said, around the same time that Mr. Duncan first started showing symptoms. In a sign of how furiously the disease can spread, an ambulance had come to their house on Wednesday to pick up Sonny Boy. Another ambulance picked up a woman and her daughter from the same area, and a team of body collectors came to retrieve the body of yet another woman all four appeared to have been infected in a chain reaction started by Marthalene Williams. A few minutes after the ambulance left, the parents got a call telling them that Sonny Boy had died on the way to the hospital.
Based on that quote,
Agree 100%. Officials from obama downward who refuse to protect America from Ebola should be impeached and prosecuted.
VOLANTARY MANSLAUGHTER!
We need to shut down flights originating from, or passengers coming from these countries, until the outbreak is brought under control. We can’t assume folks will act rationally and for the good of others; prefering to die in Africa rather than try to seek better care in other countries - putting others at risk in the process.
I have to question your thinking on this. If we were to execute him it just well might send a message that if you have ebola you better go into hiding. While in hiding the chances are it would lead to more people being exposed.
You represent the willfully ignorant liberal mindset to a T.
“Really, executing people for becoming sick? Isnt that harsh and uncalled-for?”
No kidding. Mene isn’t likely to get his wish since Duncan will probably die from ebola first.
How do you feel about AIDS infected homos that knowingly infect others?
If someone has a deadly disease and does not self-quarantine, execute on the spot.
That is THE problem.
The timeline that we have shows that Duncan didn’t begin to feel ill until he had been in Texas for several days.
His flight was Sept 19th with Duncan landing in Dallas on the 20th. He didn’t begin to show symptoms until the 24th. He sought medical help on the 26th. He was diagnosed with ebola on the 28th.
The ‘let’s execute the ebola patient’ crowd needs to at least stick to the facts that we do have.
And if you want to blame someone for Duncan bringing ebola to the US why don’t you start with Barky for not banning visitors from west Africa until this plague burns itself out.
Obama’s germ warfare. If you can prove a connection between this guy and perhaps the CIA or Obama himself, then you might have a petty good case this whole thing was premeditated from the get-go.
Jim,
I am highly concerned that this thread has remained on the website for several hours.
It is an unfortunate fact that liberals regularly search FR for any material they can use to trash conservatives, and repost it elsewhere, with the addition of hateful and mocking comments.
The contents of this post, as well as many of the comments following are, I am afraid, perfect fodder for liberal hatemongers to use against this website.
I have no apologies for posting this at all. Someone needs to step forward and actually provide leadership with hard decisions to save lives. You and I will just have to to agree to disagree.
Jumping in with both feet an skimpy assumptions - really makes us look like some of the forums on the Left.
I rested.
