Damn media...The job title is “Corrections Officer” , not “guard”. Sorry, pet peeve.

Clear from the escapes they’re not guards
At bit off topic, but I always thought the title Corrections Officer was odd, to say the least. I suppose it comes from back when the elites really thought a prison term was for enlightenment, and not punishment.
The article is not very informative. It only repeats the national story. Nowhere does it tell us what precautions suggested by the guards were ignored. That prison has a big egg on it’s face.
I think it speaks of the overcrowding and that the guards warned of that. I can see that would be a problem and not surprised more did not escape.
They use correction officer when they are being friendly and guard when they want to portray them in a negative way.
Sounds like the hunt for a scapegoat has begun.
I think I get what you’re saying. I think the title “Prison Officer” or “Custody Officer” might be more appropriate given the current tendency in Corrections towards warehousing. They don’t do a lot of “correcting” these days.

True enough. Plus all the cheesy portrayals of prison staff in Hollywood movies don’t help either.
