Need advice.
I have been receiving robocalls from a research frim called WHERE AMERICA STANDS RESEARCH - Telephone 847-250-1400. I do not answer the calls, but learned from a Google search what the caller is identified as.
Has anyone else received calls from this research company?
I found this from a Google search:
"Bert PealThe Telegraph & macon.com Yesterday at 7:57pm ·
I would like to let everyone know that "Where America Stands Research" Has called me 8 times today in four hours on behalf of Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois. I wonder if he is aware that he are paying a company to do this research on if I am going to vote for him in the Illinois senate race. I cannot vote in the Illinois race, because I live in Georgia. I have reported them three times today to the do not call list which I am on, and I also even called them back and left a message on their recording machine telling them not to call me ever again. They still continue to call every hour on the hour at least 2 times. I will be contacting the media also about this since it does no good to report them or tell them not to call. the number that comes up on the caller ID is 1-847-250-1400. That is how I figured out what company was doing this."

My response to all survey calls is, “I no longer give out free information.”

Dick Durbin is a class act turd, but gon-amoco robocalls, without recourse is obviously not his doing. Have you called him about it?
Thanks for the Post

The “do not call list” is the biggest joke. They have the list, but it seems they have absolutely no enforcement of the list.
Telemarketers these days are out of control. Most of them calling our outright thieves too.
“Most of them calling our outright thieves too.”
Lots of “spoofed” numbers too. If you call them back, you get a message that the number is not in service.
“They have the list, but it seems they have absolutely no enforcement of the list.”
Tell me about it.. we have the ol’ answering machine, and just let ‘em hang up. We quit answering the phone years ago.
I used to have a rude outgoing message, but there are devices now that detect the answering machine before the caller even gets a chance to hear my rant, so that doesn’t even work anymore.
I think you can just answer the call and say “Please don’t call this number again.” And they won’t. It’s worked for my wife.
Nuts. :)
“The Do-Not-Call registry does not prevent all unwanted calls. It does not cover the following:
. calls from organizations with which you have established a business relationship;
. calls for which you have given prior written permission;
. calls which are not commercial or do not include unsolicited advertisements;
. calls by or on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations.
Perhaps under the law, these calls fall into one of the above categories. However, depending on how often they call, the calls could be considered harassment.
These calls have no one on the other end. It just plays a recording. Even when you speak to someone, it could take months before your number is removed.
If they ask for someone specific, i tell them to hang on and I’ll go get them and set the phone down then hang it up ten minutes later. Not sure how long they ever waited, but it does tie them up for a little bit from calling somebody else.
I’ve not experienced this, but I’d more than likely call Dick Durbin’s office and inform them of this. Also mention that if the calls do not stop you will be calling the Attorney General of your state, the District Attorney of your county and whomever else you can think of in hopes that they will stop these calls.
Maybe that will help???? Sorry you’re having to deal with that. I’m sure it’s aggravating and frustrating.
That's a really weird name. How did you even manage to type it?
It is possible to track them down to an actually number. You have to play along with the pitch, act interested, make a commitment to purchase. At some point along the way they have to give you legit contact info.
Takes a couple-a-few calls. Then when you have their number you call them incessantly while listening to them threaten to report you to the police or whoever.
Take a lot of time and not worth it. I now just don’t answer.
Bingo! And if enough people do as you do it will help.
Durbin doesn’t pay for phone calls. We do.
Are they calling your cell? Can you block it on your phone or through your provider?
They carved-out an exclusion for political calls when they wrote the law, IIRC. Surprise! So you can’t sue them like a normal company. Which works, btw. I’ve won several over the years.
