The “do not call list” is the biggest joke. They have the list, but it seems they have absolutely no enforcement of the list.
Telemarketers these days are out of control. Most of them calling our outright thieves too.
“Most of them calling our outright thieves too.”
Lots of “spoofed” numbers too. If you call them back, you get a message that the number is not in service.

Tell me about it.. we have the ol’ answering machine, and just let ‘em hang up. We quit answering the phone years ago.
I used to have a rude outgoing message, but there are devices now that detect the answering machine before the caller even gets a chance to hear my rant, so that doesn’t even work anymore.
“The Do-Not-Call registry does not prevent all unwanted calls. It does not cover the following:
. calls from organizations with which you have established a business relationship;
. calls for which you have given prior written permission;
. calls which are not commercial or do not include unsolicited advertisements;
. calls by or on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations.
Perhaps under the law, these calls fall into one of the above categories. However, depending on how often they call, the calls could be considered harassment.
They carved-out an exclusion for political calls when they wrote the law, IIRC. Surprise! So you can’t sue them like a normal company. Which works, btw. I’ve won several over the years.
I found this article, but their suggestion at the end of the article was to register with the Do Not Call list, which is worthless.

If youre in the shrinking pool of people who still have a land line, youre most likely inundated with calls from telemarketers.
But your cell phone is different, right? You may have registered on the FTCs National Do Not Call Registry and maybe you know regulations exist that limit the ways debt collectors and companies selling things can pester you on your cell phone.
That kind of thinking isnt grounded in reality and, unfortunately, a growing number of telemarketing companies dont care about lists and legislation and will harass you with unwanted calls and texts on your mobile phone anyway. In fact, one tech analyst recently estimated as many as 100 billion robocallsthose lacking a human being on the other endand other solicitations are made to cell phones in the U.S. every year.

Since it is a government "service", I can only conclude that it provides jobs for the otherwise unemployable "connected", or no-show "jobs" for the same.
I have registered numerous complaints, but there is no way to follow up on the results of your complaint.
