Saw an interesting UFO tonight
N/A | 08/31/2014 | N.A

I went outside tonight around 08:15 PM PDT And looked to the North/Northeast and noticed a bright orange object coming in from that direction to the SW and curving slightly towards South. It was moving pretty fast and didn't have a tail and I didn't think much of it as I see a lot of aircraft in this area heading towards the local airstrip in Carlsbad or further south towards San Diego.

It did not have a tail/trail, and was not on a path typical of shooting star nor orbital debris. After about 30 seconds of my noticing it the object went fully dark and was no longer observable.

Just wondering if anyone else had observed this interesting phenomenon and although I am typically loathe to post anything such as this, it did pique my curiosity.

Actually, what got me is that you didn’t say “saw a UFO tonight” but that you saw an “interesting UFO.” So I take it you’ve seen more than one ?

It sounds like orbital debris or a meteor.

I will never understand why people don’t put dates on their webpages, especially so-called reputable news organizations. In most cases, they also leave off the location of the organization. Incredible.

perhaps someone associated with Pendleton could explain why there was a training exercise on Sunday night of a 3 day weekend - gung ho Commander who didn’t want some military folks to get a holiday break?

perhaps not

I recall seeing a fireball a few years ago in the desert of SE New Mexico. Sure enough other Freepers saw it to, from as far away as Colorado. At the peak of its brightness, it had brightened the landscape to daylight conditions.

Sorry to digress here... But your comment brought back some VERY unpleasant memories. Back when I was in the Space Program launch business they LOVED to schedule launches on long weekends or holidays.

The reasoning was that the base was cleared of non-launch essential personnel already and it was more economical to launch then. All I can tell you is that it screwed up my life and families life more than once.

Gotcha beat, we drank it in college during the late 60’s when we could not afford any “good” beer, like Schlitz!!! Of course, we did not want to step all the way down to MD2020. LOL, oh gawd, what would we not drink to be honest.

Pinging the unidentified aerial phenomena list (ufo) ..

May 8, 1950-This is one of the most famous UFO pictures ever taken.
Photographed by Paul Trent, and first witnessed by his wife.
They were published in a local newspaper in McMinnville, Oregon.
Shortly thereafter, the Trent photos were published in Life magazine edition of June 26, 1950.
The rest is history.
(These photos have been deemed authentic for over 50 years. The analysis of the McMinnville photos by Dr.Bruce Maccabee PhD, can be found here = http://brumac.8k.com/trent1.html )

Those interested in the uap/ufo ping list, please Freepmail
LasVegasDave (freepmail works best)
if you would like your name added to the list.
( Approximately 200+ freepers are currently on the ping list ).

"I want to believe"

I don't. But what I want has nothing to do with it.

I don’t believe in UFO ET’s ...

Gordon Cooper didn't "believe" in them, either. He only saw them and, more than once, gave chase in fighter jets.

But he didn't believe in all that "nonsense," either.

Worth reading: "Leap of Faith: An Astronaut's Journey into the Unknown," by Mercury 7 astronaut Gordon Cooper. Most of the book is about the space race; only a small portion deals with Gordon's experiences with UFOs and the U.S. military's heavy-handed censorship of any and all evidence.

So either I must assume Gordon Cooper was a liar of pathological proportions ... or that there's a lot more going on "out there" than we puny humans know.

You can go ahead believing that we humans know it all. Meanwhile, I understand that "there are more things on heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
