What will they feed the participants? Tree bark? All form no substance, typical for a totalitarian regime. Hey, sounds familiar. The feckless fool on the hill rings a bell.

The dumbass probably thinks it’s real. And I don’t think anyone is going to have the balls to tell him it isn’t.

This is not the first time Inoki hosted an event in North Korea; in 1996 he promoted one titled the Peace Festival that was attended by a number of WCW wrestlers - Flair, Sting, Scott Norton, the Steiners, etc,. Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair both covered the event in their autobiographies. Muhammad Ali was also on the tour.

Interestingly, for hardcore wrestling fans, Akira Hokuto actually had a film documentary of her made during that trip to North Korea, which I own. It’s actually the best film footage I’ve ever seen about life in North Korea and I would guess that no one on the Korean side thought of censoring a woman wrestler filming in the country.

It really was an interesting take on just how backward the country is. For the poster who commented on whether the North Koreans thought it was fake or real, Flair wrote that in his contacts with the attendees they did think it was real.

The north Korean loser could be jailed or killed (in front of his family who are then exiled to the death camps)

It wouldn’t be the first time.

First giant NBA players, and now wrestlers. I suspect this is a breeding program to create some sort of super race for the “great leader.” It seems they did this in the past with GI’s.

>>Has been looking for a paycheck,

Yeah, I’ve talked to Sapp over twitter and it seems like he’s looking for anything. He was VERY big in Japan (literally) in the mid-2000’s and then dipped to do “The Longest Yard” with Bill Goldberg. He went back, and it seemed like the K-1/Pride work dried up (because he’s got rubber legs) and he started pro wrestling. I don’t know the pro-wrestling scene in Japan anymore, but I’m guessing Sapp is puttering around it.

Who knows what Goldberg is doing now.

I just can’t believe Inoki would do something like this.
