Glenn Cornick, the original bassist for Jethro Tull, passed away August 29 at his home in Hilo, Hawaii. He was 67. Billboard reports that Cornick died of congestive heart failure and had been receiving hospice care recently. Cornick was a founding member of Jethro Tull, appearing on their first three albums before departing the group in 1970.

(Class of ‘70) Did you get a chance to listen to Bouree...I’m interested in your take.
Meandering ill produced bass line. Somewhat melodic and nice sounding flute for a few seconds.
Degenerates in to poorly timed and random pseudostacatto notes.
It’s like trying to approximate muscle spasms or nervous tics.
I didn’t mean for this to be about the horrid music. But you asked.
The first one made me think, it’s not rock n roll, not classical, has a tinny ill melodic and off key organ drone. Well produced strummed acoustic guitar.
But i will listen to Segovia or a classical guitarist for what it promised and did not deliver and analogously rock n roll by players whom im sure are not nearly technically proficient as Dull for the rock n roll not delivered.
What’s important to me is a sense of decorum. Also truth. Since you clearly have a problem with both of those I’d say you are living up to everything you say Cornick did. Yours is the attitude that damages society, making up crap and not worrying of it has any basis in fact, all while dancing on the grave of a guy you know nothing about. If you want to know what went wrong with society look in a mirror.
I sense a bias. I, too, feel guilty about my part in the degeneracy of both the morals and values of this country prior to my conservative conversion. I have escuses...but don’t we all? And I listen to Segovia often, Tull...hardly ever. But to deny Tull as vociferously as you suggests an agenda. Ain’t life grand? :{)
Opinions are like a$$holes. Some people can’t help themselves.
You are seriously making this over-serious.
We all need to look in the mirror.
I’m not sure what you claim I am making up.
Bias, sure.
It was always there from experience, reacting to the horrible music and perverse cultural aesthetic that came with it.
And it’s not just Jethro Dull. They were among the least of it.
I’m not sure there’s an agenda, though.
I don’t think I am wrong about the huge negative effect that 70’s corporate rock has had on western society.
It more than anything contributed to post-Christian Europe and inextricable moral relativism and political correctness.
I don’t think you are wrong either.
It’s just a lot to think about.
Good grief!
A person dies and the best we can do on FR is F’ing get in a posting fight?
I think All involved here need to stick their head in a bucket of water...
And when done please tell us just exactly WHAT IS THE “APPROVED” TYPE OF MUSIC WE ARE ALLOWED TO LISTEN TOO.
I’ve been here for 1.5 Decades on FR and this has to be one of the TOP STUPID arguments I’ve ever seen.
My suggestion is go rent a Backhoe and pull your wadded up panties out of your a$$ crack!
What are you trying to say?
Sometimes music is just music.
Overwhelming sometimes...thank goodness for good music. Bach is my fave.
"Ahh, Bach!"
...but I like this gal from down under...

Nuts.
In those halcyon pre-hippie days you’re so fond of we didn’t speak ill of the recently dead. Not the truth and certainly not lies. And here you are lying about the recently dead. If you want back to the pre-hippy society be the change you want to see.
Everything you’ve said about Cornick is made up. There’s no truth in it. You lied. Over and over and over. Rudely, insulting the dead and people on this thread. You embody everything you insist he was.
