Animals can be ‘victims’ just like people, Oregon Supreme Court says

In two landmark rulings earlier this month, the Oregon Supreme Court said that animals—whether they be horses, goats, dogs or cats—shall be afforded some of the same basic protections as human beings.

The dual rulings are expected to make it easier for police to rush to the aid of ailing animals without first obtaining a warrant. They also could result in harsher criminal repercussions for those found guilty of abusing or neglecting animals.

“These are hugely helpful to the prosecution of animal-cruelty cases,” said Jacob Kamins, a Corvallis-based prosecutor assigned to pursuing such cases across Oregon. …

Unborn children have no rights.

Animals do.

Got it.

So when do oregonians end up with the “right” to marry their pets in accordance with “love” and “basic human rights”?
Because obviously, ankle humping little narky dogs are being abused by the humans denying the obvious expression of love.

unborn: meaning not yet outside the womb
children: meaning from the parent

‘unborn children’ is perfectly exact

when I was in college, I used to work as a security guard at a biotech in andover ma. when I did the rounds on the weekends, I heard the cries of dogs they were experimenting on. (they also had other animals). some of them they had cut part of their jaws out. I don’t believe God allows the suffering of one type of creature as an excuse to help another type.
only on gmo’s and this do I agree with the Marxists.

i think you may be missing the opportunity here.

and that is, if these animals have rights and such, this can be leveraged to secure more rights for unborn people, who are actual people.

because it would be legally bipolar/schizophrenic to give more rights/protection to animals than people, unborn or not.

you gotta always see how you can use things to our advantage. a/positive step forward for animal cruelty rights can be a stepping stone into other areas. the left does this and we must as well. this is how we lose. we dont’ keep going and we don’t make correlations to other related things, we get cynical and think the worst about a positive thing because it doesn’t fix something else.

Yep. So, will Oregonians have to be licensed by the State as agriculture stock or pets?

I’m astonished that less brutality done to animals is considered a “bad thing”, here.

What does this have to do with “less brutality”?

Bad enough that rights for actual humans get ignored. The way that liberals will interpret these rulings is like a Pandora’s box.

Jesus Himself that there would always be evil in the world until He returns.

How can you not rejoice that a little bit of it be done away with?

Why are people unable to care about *two* things at once in this place?

Until Christ returns or Roe V Wade is overturned, babies will be butchered in the womb, like it or not.

How can you not give thanks to God that some animals will suffer less because of this?

Should we just torture and abuse animals until the day that babies are protected from abortions, because that would be “more fair”?

Would that make you happy?

some people here can’t enjoy a victory if other battles are still being fought.

if it can’t fix their pet peeve t the moment, or they can’t see a way that it might benefit them, they tear it down.

i see this the most with the people who think anything other than abortion is a waste of time, especially if it’s for animals. they don’t understand that these cases can be leveraged to help their cases, because they’re too narrow minded and bitter that resources -’time, effort -went to those cases and somehow that means their cause lost those resources because it’s a zero-sum world and if one cause gains, the others have to lose (incorrect assumption).

they are just so bitter despite the victories against abortion mills, so mny have shut down, closed’up b/c of the safety requirements they can’t meet, and the crappy butchers killing women, and murdering babies they failed toa abort properly, losing licenses, retiring, dying, and nobody to replacde them, the national huge shift in attitude about abortion to pro-life, the y forget all this and just remain bitter that others would dare to have personal causes at different priority levels than they do.

It is surprising. The Oregon Supreme Court, ruled, that they found a need of purpose- to rule animals as equals to Human Beings. Do you, Salamander, find that ruling...just a bit contrived or concerning?

think you misread what he said. he’s happy for the ruling. he wonders why others can’t be happy about it.
