A preliminary autopsy commissioned by the family of Michael Brown suggests that there was no sign of a struggle in his death, and that all but one of at least six gunshot wounds in his body were likely survivable, according to Dr. Michael Baden, a renowned New York forensic pathologist who performed a private autopsy after a Ferguson, Mo., police officer killed the unarmed, black 18-year-old.
Baden said in his preliminary autopsy that he believes Brown would not have been able to survive the bullet that hit at the top of his head and traveled through his brain.
Appearing Monday before reporters in the sanctuary of the Greater St. Mark Family Church in St. Louis, Baden and three of the family’s attorneys went through the diagram of Brown’s wounds that was released with the autopsy.

What I read was that the rounds were fired from no less than 2 feet which leaves everything out to infinity. No powder burns or residue suggest distance.
Does ANYONE know the make, model, and caliber of the officer’s handgun?

I’ve been told by CCW instructors that if your life is *truly* in jeopardy and you can’t retreat, you empty the gun into the attacker. And carry a spare mag.
If a younger man that large is coming at you full speed and intending a beat down, you’d be a fool not to consider your life at risk.
I’m 63 yo 180 pounds and if an 18yo that big comes after me with the intent to pound me into the pavement, it’s a death threat. How long does anyone thing I’d survive getting my head stomped on?
Life is not the movies. People are crippled and killed by aggressors without weapons. And the “shoot to wound” scene we see in the movies is utter BS. Under those circumstances you’re lucky to get the majority of your shots in the body mass. Aiming for the leg or arm will get you killed very quickly.
Finally, how should we judge the state of mind of a very large and aggressive unarmed man that *returns* & charges an armed police officer? There are recorded incidents where 6 .45 rounds into the perp doesn’t stop them.

Because they have been programmed to think differently. Their ‘leaders’ taught them that being called a Negro was a form of racism although it accurately defined their race.
So, then they decided to call themselves blacks which draws a stark line between themselves and Caucasians, the perceived enemy and the reason for their dismal station in life.
That wasn’t good enough or go far enough so they got the word out, probably assisted through their churches, that they shouldn’t even name their children by ‘white’ names.
So, yes they do and always will ‘think differently.

That’s pretty well much BS. Most just want to know the truth of what happened, not some choreographed release of selective information by one side, then the other.
I believe one thing though, once brown violated the Cops space and went for the cops gun, he was committing suicide. I don’t care who what or where you are, you try taking a cops firearm and you’re going to get shot until you are dead.
Therein lies the real problem. Not the fact that cops can do that, it comes with the job. It’s the people they’re hiring and giving that job to. That’s the problem.

The Department is going to have to release that information fast and play the media game. Otherwise, the narrative of execution will build and build.
Keep in mind that it’s likely Brown was leaning forward in his bull rush towards the cop and maybe had his right arm forward as it swung during the run. That would collapse those hits into a much smaller pattern, perhaps half the size we see laid out on the autopsy table. In a life or death struggle , I’m willing to overlook a little trigger jerk.
A 2013 article inferred that the St. Louis County Police carry a .40 of some flavor.
