Another day, another tweet from Richard Dawkins proving that if non-conscious material is given enough time, it is capable of evolving into an obstreperous crackpot who should have retired from public speech when he had the chance to bow out before embarrassing himself.
Date rape is bad. Stranger rape at knifepoint is worse. If you think that's an endorsement of date rape, go away and learn how to think.— Richard Dawkins (@RichardDawkins) July 29, 2014
Date rape is bad. Stranger rape at knifepoint is worse, huffs Dawkins. Seeming to have anticipated, although not understood, the feminist reaction this kind of sentiment generally evokes, he finishes the tweet: If you think thats an endorsement of date rape, go away and learn how to think.
...This is Dawkins in 2014: a figure of mockery, so convinced that he possesses God-like powers of omniscience that he cant understand why everyones getting angry at him for pointing out the obvious. Why wont we all just learn how to think, damn it! Then we could all live together in a peaceful society where nobody wears bin liners, and women shut up about sexual harassment.
Remember when Dawkins was widely respected? I dont. Having grown up after Dawkins made the transition from lauded science communicator to old man who shouts at clouds, its hard for me to understand why anyone continues to listen to him about anything.
... dont have to be religious to find this level of hubris baffling. In his review of The God Delusion, Terry Eagleton remarks:
Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds,... you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology.

What until he learns about islam...
Congratulations on your revelation, Eleanor.
He must have tried to kiss her on “The Family Feud”.
Dawkins' statement is true. The fact that you can objectively categorize certain levels of crime as worse than others does not mean you are endorsing the "less worse" crimes. Theft is bad but theft coupled with a beating is worse than theft. Does saying that mean that you endorse theft?
Of course, the telling part of the reaction is that feminists need to blur the lines on these types of categorizations to push their agenda. If an 18 year old boy has sex with an 18 year old girl who is too drunk to affirmatively consent to the sex, that has to be just as bad as the mugger who grabs a woman, pulls her into an alley and then punches her into submission and then rapes her. If you make the distinction, you may think that the 18 year old boy does not need to be punished as badly as the violent mugger. Ironically, what this shows is that the feminist is less concerned about the violent mugger because focusing on him does not advance the agenda. The real villain is the 18 year old boy who needs to be put in his place. Doing that advances feminism more than protecting women against worse, more violent crime.
Jealous of his hookup with Mrs. Garrison?
I read about this in the Daily Mail a couple of days ago. Apparently, the difference between rape and rape-rape is Dawkins’ way of explaining logic. All the comments in the Daily Mail agreed that this was a perfect way to explain how logical thinking works.
Of course, Dawkins is a publicity hound who knows exactly what he’s doing so why anyone bothers to pay attention to him is beyond me. And now I will make another comment about it—
Dawkins is an idiot To question whether his skull lacks a very small brain or just a below average brain is not an endorsement of this idiot.
I love it when the Left turn on each other.
Oh, Dawkins also comments about “mild pedophilia” as opposed to nasty pedophilia. He offered no definition of mild pedophilia because I assume he thought I was smart enough to figure it out myself. Wrong!
Would you apply that drunken beyond being responsible for actions to the 18 year old boy as well? If not, why not?
Am I wrong, but I thought that was Richard Dawson...
They are cowards.
Here was the media take on it:
